2 Firefighters Shot And Killed While Trying To Put Out A Fire in New York…Wait What?
(CNN) — At least two firefighters died when they were shot at the scene of a blaze in upstate New York on Monday, police said. Two other firefighters were injured, police in Webster, New York, told reporters. Authorities believe one or more shooters took aim at the firefighters after they left their vehicles, Police Chief Gerald Pickering said. It was unclear whether there were any suspects. “We have different individuals that were possible people with knowledge, but at this point I can’t really comment,” Monroe County Sheriff Patrick O’Flynn told reporters. For hours, the gunfire stopped firefighters from working to extinguish the fire and forced police SWAT teams to evacuate homes in the area. Firefighters first arrived before 6 a.m., said Rob Boutillier, Webster’s fire marshal. By 9 a.m., flames had engulfed three houses and a vehicle, he said.”It’s still an active crime scene,” Pickering said. “We have firefighters there at the location. It took a while to make it safe … to put out the fires.”

Columbine High School had 4 armed guards on it’s premises. Each security guard carried a standard side arm. One of these security guards saw Eric Harris loading his weapons in the parking lot and shot at him. Eric Harris returned fire with a high powered weapon leaving this 1 security guard outgunned. Before another armed guard could arrive on scene Harris had laid down enough suppressing fire that he was able to run into the school. The armed guards took chase. By the time they reached the school, chaos had erupted with people running everywhere screaming. They could no longer tell who the bad guy was or find the shooter. They would have not been able to engage the shooter regardless without running the risk of shooting innocent high school kids running for their lives.
If I hear one more person go well “if there was an armed guard the outcome would have been different!” Well you fucking lunatics, Columbine had FOUR armed guards and well we all know what happened. The NRA most have forgot the facts of that case before making up some stupid insane ramblings.

Is it possible to ban all firearms in the U.S.? Absolutely not and it is not even a logical solution. What is a very possible solution? Banning assault rifles, high capacity clips, and military grade ammunition from civilian use. Last time I checked we don’t live in a war zone and don’t really understand why anyone needs to own that type of fire power other then the police or military. Nor have I ever heard one logical argument on why it’s necessary to own an assault rifle.

@Bryans well because most gun related violence comes from legally purchased firearms firstly. Or from stolen firearms, which were purchased legally ha. If you flood the market place then yeah, it’s easy for criminals to get a hold of them. And if I’m not mistaken the Swiss are limited to the rifle given to them after army service(trained) or .22 caliber. It’s not a bananza of weapons.

But even so, normal people aren’t committing violence crimes with guns. Most of them are committed with illegally obtained firearms (i.e. Stolen, bought on the street). Unless you actually used/own a firearm been in the military and have been trained to even the most rudimentary knowledge, please shut up it’s grating and your ignorant. The following truisms: There are no “assault” weapons sold in the U.S. to general public, an “assault” weapon is a selective fire weapon and unless you have a Class 3 FFL license you cant get one. Clips and magazines are not he same thing, clips/stripper clips are generally metal bands used to contain rounds found in firearms such as the M1 Garand. Magazines are self contained and are inserted into magazine wells as in the M4 or other like weapons. The M4 does not fire a “hundred rounds second,” 750 to 900 rounds per minute but weapon will not operate at this rate for very long as you get barrel droop and overheating even if you could feed it that fast. I could go on, but I won’t Bottom line if you don’t have the sense to lock up your weapons than you do not deserve to have them! With an important right like the 2nd Amendment comes great responsibility, are you living up to it? If you have someone in your home who may be mentally unstable, maybe its time to rethink having unsecured weapons in your home. The life you save may not just be your own, but everyone affected by your bad behavior. LOCK THEM UP!

Right now, some lunatic is plotting to outdo the horrific tragedy in Newtown CT. He is sitting in his basement loading magazines, making a bomb or other destructive device and planning his sick self centered revenge on innocents. Chances are many people already know and have known for a long time that that this person is clearly dangerous. A heath care professional has said this person needs care but an insurance company has said no, police officers have likely been called but have said “there is nothing we can do until he does something.” Everyone in this sick little circle knows this person is dangerous but they are unwilling or can’t do anything about it. Your governments answer is rather than change this situation, they are going take away your ability to defend your family and yourself.This crime in Newtown was the most abhorrent events I have ever heard of in this country. What truly concerns me is that we meaning our leaders are still not discussing the real problem of our young men in America. It is no accident that all of these shooters are highly intelligent, loners, few friends, on some form of anti depressants or drug, likely has broken family, and virtually no empathy. They are all described as “distant” and quiet. We are looking in the wrong direction, guns are not our issue it is something much bigger and quite frankly harder to fix. It is very easy to point at the sinister looking “black” rifle and shake your fist, and scream that is our problem, but it is not.
Well kingpin guns are also the issue. Very few people in the United States are even remotely qualified to own a firearm. This Lanza woman never should’ve had access to an Armalite. Like Freedom of Speech, while it is an expansive right, is also limited. And so is the second amendment already, as others have mentioned with the automatic rifle ban. So while I agree mental health needs to be addressed more(which btw conservatives will hate because government will probably have to help with that), more limits are probably needed as well.
It’s sad and all but the only reason this story got national attention is because of the national gun debate we have going on. Last year, I was out visiting a friend of mine where a guy set his house on fire and fired bullets at anyone who came close. Don’t recall every media outlet talking about that because it was yet another everday shooting occurrence.
