Carlton Fisk Arrested For A DUI In the Middle Of An Illinois Cornfield…Wait What?
TMZ – MLB Hall of Fame catcher Carlton Fisk was arrested for DUI last night in Illinois — after allegedly driving his truck into the middle of a freakin’ corn field … law enforcement sources tell TMZ. According to law enforcement sources, the New Lenox PD received a call about a car in the middle of a corn field around 7:20 PM. When police arrived, officers say they found Fisk behind the wheel of his F-150 — which had a flat tire — and he appeared to be fast asleep. We’re told cops also found an open vodka bottle in the vehicle.
All things considered this may be the best DUI ever. I mean the mugshot, the story, the guy, everything just coming together. Carlton Fisk just getting his Field of Dreams on in the middle of an Illinois cornfield. As a side note I don’t think you should be able to get a DUI when you are driving in a place where you can’t hurt somebody. Like if the owner of the cornfield wants to sue for lost produce that’s one thing. But as a rule I say if somebody wants to drive drunk better to do it in a cornfield rather than the road.

Can’t speak to the laws of Illinois, but in MA, you must be operating a motor vehicle on a public way to get a DUI. This is clearly a private field, not even on a road, let alone a public one.
If IL is like MA, this is not a DUI. Maybe some trespassing, destruction of property, driving to endanger, etc., but not a DUI.
