BATAVIA, N.Y. — A Massachusetts man whose colorful golf attire was briefly mistaken for a clown outfit has been charged in New York with driving a golf cart while drunk. The Genesee County sheriff says his department received a report that someone dressed as a clown was operating a stolen golf cart on the streets of the western New York town of Batavia on Sunday night. Deputies eventually found 37-year-old James Straub of Stoneham, Mass., at a home in Batavia, The Batavian newspaper reported. He wasn’t dressed as a clown — just wearing some colorful clothing after an outing at Terry Hills Golf Course, the origin of the cart. But deputies say he was intoxicated.

This story is breaking all over the Internet right now. “Stoneham man dressed in clown suit steals a golf cart and gets a DUI.” Can there be a bigger insult to somebody’s golf wardrobe than saying they were dressed as a clown when they weren’t? Like I’m not sure what the rules on slander are but this guy is getting the shit slandered out of him all over the place right now. Clown this, clown that. When I first heard the story I was picturing a guy with bozo shoes on, big bowtie, red nose etc.    Nope bro was just wearing a bright golf outfit and actually played 18.  He probably had one too many pops after the round was over and forgot which way the golf cart return was. Who hasn’t done that before? Seriously I were him I’d sue everybody who keeps saying he was dressed as a clown. Total misrepresentation of what happened here.
