Mohammad Ashan, a mid-level Taliban commander in Paktika province, strolled toward a police checkpoint in the district of Sar Howza with a wanted poster bearing his own face. He demanded the finder’s fee referenced on the poster: $100. A biometric scan confirmed that the man in Afghan custody was the insurgent they had been looking for. “Clearly,” one U.S. official said, “the man is an imbecile.”

This is the Taliban? This is who we keep hearing so much about? Are you kidding me? This guy has to be the worst terrorist ever in terms of the way he plays the game. I’m thoroughly unimpressed. You flat got to be better than this if you’re the Taliban. You can’t just be turning yourself in to collect your own reward. That’s JV terrorist shit. Like I don’t want this guy to escape, but if he doesn’t do something dramatic in the next week or so and just rots away in jail I’m going to be supremely disappointed. There is just something to be said for being a worthy adversary. Kind of takes all the fun out of the hunt them when they are this stupid.
