Bostonherald – The head of a local ad firm, who fought the Hub for five years for the right to hang billboards on Beacon Hill’s Red Hat pub building and won, is railing against the city’s Inspectional Services Department after being cited for failing to get a permit to do so. The Suffolk Superior Court decision overturned a Hub zoning board denial of Jacob’s application in 2010. “My signs are allowed, that’s why the judge gave them to me,” Jacob told the Herald.  Jacob, who was informed of the alleged violation July 3, faces a $1,000 fine or a one-year prison sentence if he fails to get a permit for the billboards within 30 days, according to the notice.“They are disregarding the judge’s order,” he said. “Their behavior is indicative of contempt of court.” The city previously argued the signs would violate zoning rules, while Mayor Thomas M. Menino and the Beacon Hill Civic Association, a neighborhood group, opposed Jacob’s application, saying the large signs would further commercialize a historic district.   John Guilfoil, spokesman for Mayor Thomas M. Menino, said the mayor’s office “has no involvement in this whatsoever” and was “not aware of the company’s ISD violations.” A spokeswoman for the Boston Redevelopment Authority also said the agency was “not aware” of ISD issuing the violation. An ISD spokeswoman could not be reached for comment.

What’s that old expression?  You can’t fight city hall?   Well nowhere is that more true than in the city of Boston.   If Menino hates you he hates you and  will make your life miserable whether it’s legal or illegal.    I mean this guy flat out beat Menino.  He got a court order saying that his billboard was legal.   So what does Mumbles do?   He  just ignores the courts and has some shadow agency say he doesn’t have the right permit and they are going to throw him in jail if he doesn’t take it down.   Who cares if he went to court to get the permit!   And the best part is when he tries to talk to the city everybody plays dumb and acts like they have no idea what he’s talking about.   Meanwhile in 2 weeks 5 guys in black hoods are going to show up and throw this guy in the clink.    Only in Boston could something like this happen.  Love Mumbles or hate him you got to respect it.   Straight mafia type stuff.  No soda for you!
