I Think Brandon Spikes Tweet Sums Up How The Entire Free World Feels About These Replacement Refs
To steal a line from the Abington High School football announcers. Nuts and bolts we got screwed. I don’t care about all the bad calls during the game. There were bad calls on both sides. But when you say the GW field goal was good when it was clearly missed and don’t even bother to review it that’s where I draw the line. There is no chance that thing goes in if the goal posts extend to the heavens. It clangs of the right side and falls to the ground and we celebrate. Like I said nuts and bolts we got screwed.

The PC police are out in full force saying that it obviously was good, or at the very worst would have hit the post and gone in. I never knew how many announcers also have engineering degrees. The fact is we’ll never know if that kick was good or not (I think it would have hit the post and missed), but the fact that everyone on the field acted like the kick was dead center was ridiculous.
I bet Goddell is more upset with Tucker for making a 27 yard field goal that questionable. I can see it now; “C’mon bro, either hit the chip shot or miss it and be a donkey, I don’t need this shit.”
FG was good.
Nuts and bolts is you don’t know the rules. You cannot review a field goal where the ball goes above the post. Fact
Pats D still can’t stop a nosebleed and the offense can’t ice a game. Same story for past 3 years.

I thought it was good, if they could have reviewed it I’m sure these retards would have taking 10 mins and fucked the call up
I rewatched the Brandon Spikes chatroutlette video last night durning the game. Thats what I want out of my middle linebacker.
Everyone needs to stop whining about field goals. The Pats secondary lost that game. Make one play out of the three INT opportunities and that game is over. They were in a position to win the game and they didn’t make it happen.
Here’s a gif of Harbaugh calling the ref a “no good motherfucker” http://img.gawkerassets.com/img/18029wlmpuhmpgif/original.gif
Ballsy move by Spikes here. He’ll get fined, but good for him for saying what needs to be said.
The longest play ever in NFL history was a 109-yard missed field goal return by Antonio Cromartie of the San Diego Chargers on November 4, 2007, against the Minnesota Vikings.[3]
Hey cantgetthestinkout, how do you play the pass if you get flagged every time you so much as look at a receiver?
FG was good wasnt even close to missing. The officials standing DIRECTLY under the posts put their arms up immediately. The camera angle sucked. I can see why people think it missed. it didnt
Field goal was good by a mile- Kicking it into the “imaginary” extended goal posts is considered good by rule.
The problem was not even touching Flacco ONCE throughout the entire fucking game while he hurled up jump balls to Torrey in exchange for penalties.
This is the kind of season the Patriots need.. Unpredictable, adverse, and emotional. Lighting a fire under Belichick is the best thing possible for the Pats.
Let’s get a repeat of ’03 and take the Lombardy-Belichick trophy back home where it belongs.
@dudebro How about McCourty catches the fucking ball? Or what if Arrington doesn’t face plant instead of catching that lollipop that Flacco floated up into triple coverage? The referees suck for sure, but they had plenty of opportunities to win that game. McCourty made Torrey Smith look like Jerry Rice last night. Give me a break.
Any idiots who think the field goal was good, are either girls who dont know anything about football, guys who dont know anything about football, or people who just ate three dozen assburgers
Bellichick should probably get suspended for a game. you cannot do what he did. hes a moron sometimes. im surprised he wasnt crying when he grabbed the ref. such a little baby sometimes
ecx34, was that supposed to be funny??? assburgers??? wow. i just got dumber
Frataholic is the biggest fucking loser for trying to act like he knew that rule. Sweet dude, you watched the post game show. You’re a faggot. Fact.
You are legitimately retarded if you believe that the FG was no good. Like, actually, seriously, all-kidding-aside a mentally deformed degenerate.
Still can’t fathom that the Pats had a first down with 2:30 to go in the game and still ended up punting the ball away with 2 minutes left and Balt. still had a timeout. you fucking run the ball on 1st,2nd,& 3rd and you eat the clock down to about a minute remaining or force Balt. to use up all their time outs.
Oh Boston fans! You’re incredulous. It’s ALWAYS about the officiating. Replacement or real refs in the NFL. If the Sox could win a game and be contenders, the MLB umps would surely have a skewed strike zone in a key matchup that favors the opponent. And, soon enough, those pesky NBA refs will miss “blatant” fouls on KG because they’re secretly rooting for LeBron. Same shit, different sport, year after year.
Are you fucking blind pres? The FG was good for sure.
That field goal was good. And if it hit the post it would’ve hit the left side of the post and still went in. And since you dont know anything about football or sports for that matter… The FG is not reviewable.

Three things: (1) although I enjoyed his tweet, B. Spikes is an absolute disgrace to the linebacker position; (2) non-existent pass interference calls aside, both McCourty and Arrington were shockingly bad last night; and (3) that FG was absolutely NO GOOD.
You can say that if the uprights went further it may not have been good, but by rule that was good.
Must be part of the same ref plot that the NBA had against the Celtics when the Heat blew the doors off them in games 6-7.
Pats lost because they freeze up at the end of games on both O and D. Happened two weeks in a row. Too much focus on rolling up yards and style points in the passing game and not enough on being hard nose football players in the last five minutes of games. Pussies.
at what point do you go from “replacement” ref to “permanent” ref?
jesus fucking christ…I said this last week too…it’s impossible for you fuckers to lose gracefully…every god damn time you have to find excuses…it’s ALWAYS the refs…like torcher said it doesn’t matter what fucking sport…a Boston team loses and it’s cry baby time about the officiating…when is this Boston sports superiority complex going to die?? I’m sick of these “our teams would never lose if not for us getting screwed by “blank” “blank” and “blank” we’re perfect!!!” I really wanna learn that Belichick held the boys down for Sandusky…anything to humble you assholes
@Torcher don’t tell me LeBron’s 24 Free-throws to the Celtics’ 27 free-throws in game 2 of the ECF was not rigged.
its funny how Pats fans are always ragging on whinny Jets fans, but then, like the hypocrites you are, complain about the officiating..in my opinion, one of the major problems with these refs across the board is how much they slow the pace of the game, spending 5 minutes to talk before they make a call
The FG looked like it missed, but it was as close it could be and go either way in terms of a field call. But I suspect the real refs would have called NO GOOD on it.
I don’t know what the real refs want, and I don’t give a fuck. Just fix it. The NFL is becoming a joke with this. Phantom calls, pandering to home teams.
How about Belichik? Why doesn’t anyone mention that an NFL referee wasn’t doing his job and responding to an NFL head coach?
Let’s all remember that douchebag ref knew Belichik was trying to talk to him and the ref ignored him. As far as I am concerned, we should all start shitting on the douchebag pussy ref who was afraid to deal with Belichik.
plange, aspergers, assburgers. eat some?
who the fuck are you retards saying the field “was good by a mile” or “wasnt even close to missing”?
Can’t review a FG over the post. So it’s all on said zebras.
jackofspades — hey you stupid shitbrain idiot…. everyone and their mother (and yo momma) all agree both the Ravens and Patriots got shitty calls. The entire football world is in awe of how bad the refs are. The talking heads all over TV… but yeah… you’re right… you flipping squid.
shouldn’t have even come down to a field goal. nuts and bolts, mccourty sucks.
im still waiting for someone to point out a call that fucked the Ravens (a legit one, not like the Webb int that was called back because it really was a penalty on him for holding Welker by the neck of his jersey past 5 yards, and yes it was way past 5 yards despite with king DB Cris Collinsworth said, watch the replay)
first of all, the field goal was obviously good. secondly, the ravens had 14 penalties against them to the pats 10. the game was horribly called, they even gave you second life after the ravens picked off brady with 2 and change left. badly officiated game, not the reason you lost though, whiners.
Yes horrible calls on both sides but that field goal was definitely good. Sick of people on facebook complaining that it wasn’t good. Why can’t this site have poll questions on it like “Was last night’s FG good?” Is it that hard to do? Get rid of the stupid 1 to 10 star rating system…
The real story this weekend is that the NFC East is easily the most overrated division in football. Dallas absolutely sucks (they caught NY sleeping), the Redskins have come back down to Earth, and Philly should be 0-3. Unfortunately the Giants are going to absolutely roll everyone in that division the rest of the way.
Worst call of the game by far was a third down where Ed Reed lowered his shoulder and had one of the cleanest big hits I’ve ever seen, called for helmet to helmet. Would have been 4th down, Gotskowski would have hit a field goal and then Torreys TD would have been the winner no need for a controversial field goal, which was good.
If Mccourty didn’t hold then it was a face mask, for 15 yards not 10. I really fail to see where the Pats got screwed in the 4th.
1) Field goal was good
2) There was no pressure on Flacco cause Oher was holding Chandler Jones by the neck every play
3) There were a shit ton of bad calls for both teams
4) Ultimately I think the terrible calls were a wash
5) We’ll never truly know who would have won that game if it was well officiated
@haleyingonmyface – second life after the pick? Webb was holding Welker by the neck of his jersey all the way down the field, on what planet did the Pats “catch a break” there?
I smell a fine coming… I hate to say it, but the problem wasn’t the officiating (yes they suck). The problem is the whiny mentality of players like Spikes instead of getting their heads back into the game and working to overcome the adversity. That’s what true champions do and these Pats aren’t showing me that yet. Where concern with the refs should fall is in the fact that they were losing the handle on that game. Lots of chippiness going on with both teams and not enough taking control of it. I’m surprised someone didn’t get hurt
@Chad – you know anything about the NFL? well since you apparently dont they have had this rule for the last few years that you cant hit a WR in the head which is what Reed did. doesnt matter if you use your helmet, shoulder, or forearm, you hit a guy in the head its a penalty. if anything they should have flagged Reed for it earlier in the game too when he hit Edleman in the head in the endzone.
@Chad, were you watching the same play as everyone else in the country? The Reed hit on Branch was 100% the right call and even Reed acknowledged it. Sure he didn’t mean to do it, but he still did. Oh, and I thought it was an extremely classy move of him to make sure Branch was ok and clearly apologize. Ed Reed just gained major respect points in my book
Yeah, rulebook probably just wrote it wrong, you’re right.
(a) Players in a defenseless posture are
(2) A receiver attempting to catch a pass; or who has completed a catch and has not had time to protect himself or has not clearly become a runner. If the receiver/runner is capable of avoiding or warding off the impending contact of an opponent, he is no longer a defenseless player;
(b) Prohibited contact against a player who is in a defenseless posture is:
(1) Forcibly hitting the defenseless player’s head or neck area with the helmet, facemask, or forearm, regardless of whether the defensive player also uses his arms to tackle the defenseless player by encircling or grasping him; and
(2) Lowering the head and making forcible contact with the top/crown or forehead/”hairline” parts of the helmet against any part of the defenseless player’s body.”
Branch knew it was clear, thats why he was smiling.
so Chad, after reading those rules and seeing the actual play, you stand by your statement that Reed’s hit on Branch was a clean play and shouldnt have been flagged? ps – where in my explanation of the rules was it different that what you just posted from the actual rule book?
Shoulder, no forearm, no facemask, no helmet. Reed led with his shoulder as the NFl has been stressing for 3 years now.
maybe take a look at the replay, he lowered his head and led with his helmet http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ezd9NcQivtA
and since when did the NFL stress for DBs to hit WRs in the head with anything?
Well Mike Pereira says there’s no technology that could possibly review a high kick so it’s too much to ask for an official to put a piece of paper or something on a monitor and see if it went left or rite.
Everyone blames the DB’s and rightfully so, they fucking suck. But how about the pass rush? Or lack of a fucking pass rush. They have 2 sacks in 3 games. The WR’s have all day to get open because the QB just sits back there with his fucking lunch, waiting for the secondary to trip over their own dicks. It’s a fucking disaster.
@herczanibar – pereira is full of shit. they landed a rover on mars that is sending back higher quality images than most internet porn sites with $39.99/month memberships. im pretty sure they could stick some sensors or cameras on the top of goal posts to make sure if a kick is good or not. or even simpler, have goal posts with extendable uprights that go up another 20 or 30 feet when guys line up to kick a FG so there none of this “well if it extended to the heavens” BS. i know that technology sounds so 2073 but call me a dreamer.
@bostonsbetter – i know im beating a deadhorse here but Chandler Jones would have had at least 2 sacks and 5 QB hits if Blindside didnt put him in the cobraclutch literally a dozen times. i know holding goes on virtually every NFL snap with every O-line but Jones and Ninkovich were legitimately being held across their necks and tackled from behind on a regular basis last night
the only penalty called that I really think impacted the game was that phantom d-holding on McCourty on the Raven’s last TD drive. There was hardly any contact at all, and they call that holding, extending the drive, improving the Ravens field position, and eventually leading to 7 points
Did anybody else see Lardarius Webb’s close-up after he got called for the flag on Welker in the fourth? I’m trying to find a picture of it. Dude literally had a tear rolling down his face.
Im so sick of you showing that abington rockland video I was there and it was a backwards pass but whistles were blown thats why the abington kid got a free run to the endzone everyone on rockland stopped playing
