LA Times – If there is something everyone can agree on, it would seem that the idea that rape can result in unwanted pregnancy would be right up there at the top of the list. Not so in Missouri, where the Republican nominee for U.S. Senate on Sunday advanced the theory that the female reproductive system shuts down when a woman is being raped, thus preventing conception. Rep. Todd Akin, a tea party candidate who is challenging incumbent Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill in the closely watched race, was asked in a local television interview about whether he supports access to abortion in the case of rape.

I know we don’t talk politics, but everybody and I mean everybody is talking about this moron.  To be honest the first 100 times I heard this story I thought it was a scene from last night’s Newsroom on HBO which I haven’t watched yet. Just Will Macavoy making fun of Tea Party people. Nope. This is real fucking life. A grown ass man who is somehow leading the Senate race in Missouri saying chicks can’t get pregnant when they get “legitimately raped.” IE if a chick gets pregnant when she gets raped that must mean she sneaky wanted it. Yes this is absolutely the dumbest most ignorant thing I’ve ever heard anybody say in my life. I love how he keeps saying he misspoke too. Umm no you didn’t bro. You honestly thought chicks bodies knew when they were legit getting raped and could shut down getting pregnant. That’s what you really believed. It kind of puts the whole KO Barstool thing in perspective right? Like this is what those nutbags never understood. I make jokes. This guy was dead serious. There are people like Todd Akin that exist in this world. Save your venom for guys like him who deserve it and are actually a real threat to women and society in general and not guys who just want to party and get laid.
