Mob War Almost Breaks Out Over Stolen Pizza Recipe
NYDailynews - A GANGLAND WAR nearly erupted over pizza — but luckily, cooler heads prevailed during a sitdown at a Panera Bread cafe, a mob turncoat told Brooklyn jurors Colombo associate Francis Guerra flipped his lid when he learned Eugene Lombardo stole the secret sauce recipe from his in-laws’ famed Brooklyn eatery, L&B Spumoni Gardens, to use at an upstart pizzeria, Russo said. Lombardo, whose sons worked at L&B, had opened “The Square” in Staten Island and started serving slices that looked and tasted suspiciously like those at L&B. Russo recalled how he, Guerra and Colombo goon Frank (Frankie Notch) Iannaci took a ride to Staten Island, where they confronted the rival pizza maker. Iannaci started banging on the window where a sign brazenly advertised “L&B-style” pizza. “Gene came out and (Guerra) started yelling at him. He told him he’s a ‘piece of s—, a s—bag, robbed my family, I’ll break your head!’ ” Russo said.
Lombardo agreed to pay $4,000 to settle the dispute. “I told Frank to take the offer. It was ridiculous to go any further with it, just accept the money and move on,” he said.Assistant Brooklyn U.S. Attorney Nicole Argentieri probed further as to what makes L&B so special. “They put the sauce on top of the cheese,” Russo said.
The thing that makes this pizza so good is they put the sauce on top of the cheese? I don’t get it. There is literally sauce on top of the cheese? That doesn’t seem possible. Or does it drip underneath? Seems like it would be messy as shit to have the sauce on top right? I almost want to drive to NY and see what all the fuss is about. Regardless though this kind of has to be a low point for the Mob right? I mean a sit down at Panera bread over stolen pizza recipes? I picture these guys arguing as they separate their silverware from their trays. No way to come across as tough doing that. Bottomline is if this pizza recipe is so important than just whack the guy and shut up. Otherwise just shut up and accept that this is what legitimate businesses call capitalism.

some pizza place on man vs. food had sauce swirls on top of the cheese, it looked fuckin amazing.
Dude on the right look like he could cause some damage.
I lived in nyc for 6 years and can honestly say that L&B is the most overrated pizza in the world. Most people just like to say they went there but in reality the square slice isn’t even as good as a frozen pizza from the supermarket
Slaphappy, yeah he looks like a Soprano. But that herp is the scariest part
prez, you’re a jew…u wouldnt understand anything about making a good pizza nor would u understand anything about the mob. Shut up
he also put the sauce on top of his lip.
this is literally the best pizza you will have…sure there is the best brick over at Pasty’s on 118th but this si so unique i understand the fight, it is a light sauce on top of the cheese then covered again in a parmesean. the dough is cripy with seasoning on the bottom and real fluffy – make the trip
perhaps you do a pizza report – no joke Pres, please drive and eat it you have never had a pizza that is similar, firends and i have had fights about what category it even falls in…its not aa sicilian square, yet it is in thickness and size…its not a light cheese, yet its covered in it…a brilliant idea to steal
but you have to wait and eat it right out of the oven…wait for a fresh square
then go to Pasty’s on 118th and 1st and have some amazing brick oven….write up a comparison
best pizza in the NY. by far. it’s a bitch to get to though, which is why no one talks about it. either that or they don’t want it getting more crowded. anyone who says that L&B is trash also swears that Sbarro is the best.
Don’t steal Chelios’ Greek pizza recipe.
Sauce on top of Cheese is called a Tomatoe Pie. Central NJ style. DeLorenzo’s is the bomb.
@thesorce, the first half of your comment is correct, kikes know zero about pizza. But the second part is incorrect, Jews have a long history with the mob.
quest4-27 called it. L & B is the best. Worth fighting for, definitely.
You stupid fucks. Chicago style pizza (an entire genre of pizza) always has the sauce on top of the cheese. It prevents the cheese from hardening and burning at high temperatures. Typical ignorant east coast elitists.
Boston pizza is beyond embarrassing.. absolutely trash, no doubt about it
“Otherwise just shut up and accept that this is what legitimate businesses call capitalism.”
If stealing other peoples ideas and hard work was truly capitalism, Barstool Sports would be bigger than Apple, Google, and Facebook combined.
Deadspin and Egotastic are Page-Jews L&B Spumoni Gardens.
rarely will this happen but im with 4guys1stool, the only pizza that’s more overrated than Spumoni Gardens is Grimaldi’s, gotta wait 30-45 minutes outside for pizza where it looks like the fat fuck greaseballs behind the counter ate half the cheese before tossing it in the oven
Ever heard of Chicago deep dish, dummy? Sauce is always on the top and it’s the shit, especially from Giordano’s
L & B’s >

to answer your question pres, the cheese is sliced not shredded. Protects the dough from getting soggy.
LnB is the best sicilian for that style. Anyone who says it isnt is a shmuck. For regular/napolitan, my pick is new park if the indian looking greaseball is making it.
Stupid Guineas. Papa ginos is the best ever!
Wanderlei Silva flipped his lid
