Always a really weird dynamic when something like this happens and we’re sitting here doing our usual thing with blogging. Like it almost doesn’t feel right to laugh about anything today. Supposedly 14 kids killed. 27 dead. Scary ass, depressing, sad shit. Just goes to show you are really never safe anywhere. Elementary schools, movie theaters etc. Everything is in play nowadays. Our thoughts and prayers obviously go out to everybody in Newtown CT. If anything can be taken from this tragedy it’s just never take anything for granted. It’s easy to get caught up in the rat race and forget to smell the flowers so to speak, but as this madness shows everything can change at any moment. Life is too short and too fragile to ever forget that.
Sad day in America…can’t imagine sending a child off to school and losing them like this. Prayers for everyone and may the shooter be on the first express train to Hell.

I thought it was insane last week when I found out that at my 8yr old sons elementary school they have emergency drills where the kids hide in case something like this happens…I guess it’s not so insane these days..

Not trying to politicize anything. This situation is more than words can describe. This happens EVERY WEEK NOW, and the only argument we hear from the loons on the right is “if MORE people had guns this wouldn’t happen.” I understand the constitution. If you want to own a handgun/rife/shotgun to defend yourself, family, and hunt then fine. There is NO reason an ordinary citizen needs to have extended Magazines, assault riffles, body armor, etc. Something has to change, and it’s sad and awful that it might take an incident like this to get it started. FULL psychological profiles on people who want guns, longer waiting periods. This is just sad beyond words.

This fucking terrifies me, I am sitting in my office frozen, I can’t wait for to get home from work and just hug my kids. I have a child in the 2nd grade. I am going through my head about how secure the school is. Sure, they have a checking desk; cameras, but someone can easily overpower the entrance and go crazy.
School let’s out at 2:30. My wife is literally in the parking lot waiting right now, she’s been there since news broke 1 hour ago.

This means ending the gun show loopholes, preventing proxy sales and instituting much tougher laws for individuals who obtain guns illegally. When the greatest country on earth has gun violence statistics rivaling many third world countries, something is obviously broken. The sooner people like you stop whistling past the graveyard and ignoring the problem, the sooner we as a country can begin to take steps to come up with a comprehensive legislation that balances the rights of law abiding gun owners and the safety of society as a whole.
