US Senate Candidate Tells Blogger To Go Fuck Himself…His Staff Apologizes For Him And Then He Promptly Retracts the Apology
Slate – Mike Baumgartner, a U.S. Senate candidate hoping to unseat Democratic Sen. Maria Cantwell this fall, told a local reporter to “fuck off” earlier his week. His only apparent regret about his outside-the-box PR strategy? Failing to stop his staff from later issuing an apology on his behalf. The reporter, Baumgartner told CBS News afilliate KIRO 7, “had it coming,” adding that he had not signed off on the apology before his staff released it. The whole thing appears to have started Monday when Seattle-area political blog Publicola’s Josh Feit interviewed the Republican Senate candidate (and current Washington state senator) for a larger story about the topic of the moment in the political world: Todd Akin and his views on rape and abortion. The way Feit tells it, Baumgartner—who for the record called Akin’s views “ignorant” and “offensive”—made it clear during the interview that he wished the media focused more on the war in Afghanistan (the ending of which is a key pillar in his campaign) than the recent abortion flap. That night, Feit opened his inbox to find an email from Baumgartner that included a pic of the candidate and another man. It read: “Josh, this is Pat Feeks, a Navy SEAL killed last week in Afghanistan. Take a good look and then go fuck yourself.” Feit later published the email on his blog, prompting Baumgartner’s staff to issue the apology that has since been retracted by their boss.
This in a nutshell is the problem with politics. See I fucking love this guy. I’d vote for him in a heartbeat. I love how he told this blogger to go fuck himself and then when his staff made up a fake apology he made them retract it. I don’t care if he’s a Republican, Democrat or alien. This is my type of dude. So why do I say this is what is wrong with politicts? Because not enough people think like me. I honestly don’t give a fuck whether somebody is a democrat or republican. Give me a guy who I can trust. A guy with a spine. A guy I want in a bunker with me. That’s who I’ll vote for. But that’s not how it works in this country. Everybody sides with whoever their political party has running regardless of who it is. Republicans always side with Republicans and Democrats always side with Democrats. It doesn’t matter who the candidate is or what they say or do you defend your guy and bash the other.
I mean no offense but Mitt Romney is a fucking bozo. Dude has never had a beer in his life. He strapped his dog to the roof of his car on a road trip. He’s stiff as a board. I wouldn’t trust him as far as I could bowl him. And there is nobody on god’s green earth outside the bible belt who can convince me they really think he should be President. But if you’re a republican you have to defend him and trash Obama. That’s just how it goes. And if you’re a republican reading this blog you are going to trash me and say I’m a crazy ass liberal. I’m not. I’m honestly neither. I vote both ways. I just call it as I see it. That’s why I can’t stand politics and this time of year. Honestly the parties shouldn’t even have candidates. Just vote republican or democrat and then assign whoever you want from your party. It’s pretty much the same thing. The person running is irrelevant. It’s a joke.

Hardoooooo
no pres your in idiot left wing hippie, obama, economy, the national debt, no change, not born in usa, turning us communist, voting republican will make me a millionaire, these last 4 years have been the worst in the histroy of the world
Cue the angry white people.
go fuck yourself
Davey Pageviews ladies and gentlemen…this blog won’t get any comments…
At least Romney didnt eat his dog. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/04/17/dog-wars-obama-dog_n_1433223.html
Well put, Wilburnham. Very articulate point.
Well said Pres. I like this guy for the sime fact that he stated his opinion, took an action and then stood by it, right, wrong or indifferent. No flip flopping or bulkshit apologie here. Flat out you’re an asshole and go fuck yourself and I don’t care who this offends. Bravo!
for a guy who doesnt like to talk politics on this blog you sure do talk a lot of politics on this blog.
meanwhile..neils still employed..strange world we live in
They’re both frauds, cheats and complete liars. I just happen to think that Romney will be both better for business and govern in a more fiscally conservative manner.
Pres, I do respect the shit out of that opening paragraph and I also pride myself on running on the man not the party and have voted against my own several times. The issue I have is your reasons for discounting Mitt because he’s a “bozo”, the beer thing, the dog thing, none of that shit should matter.
Here is the bottom line, the social implications of electing a Republican or a Democrat are immensely overblown. The American culture, from its very strict and ultra conservative Puritanical beginnings has, since our nation’s inception, been trending towards a liberal culture and nothing is going to stop that. Sure, electing certain officials can speed up or, yes, slow down the process but, eventually, we move towards progressive agendas. Gay marriage, abortion, women’s rights, racial and religious tolerance is going to happen eventually. The proliferation of information and education deems it as an inevitability.
What we need right now, I would say, is someone who knows how to make and manage money. The country’s economy is in the shitter and yeah, Romney may be a stiff square who doesn’t booze and is a Mormon but the man knows how to make the green flow and that, more than anything is what we need. He’s not going to roll back gay marriage, he’s not going to make interracial couples illegal, he’s going to try and make money which is what we need.
It should be up to the states, in my opinion, to determine such social-centric policies and, yes, when the time comes the federal government may need to give those bible thumping, ultra religious states the push into the 21st century but that should not determine who you vote for because, as I said, its going to get there eventually.
I mean, what I would like to see neither party is going to offer, graduated flat taxes, federal term limits for Congress, the closing of military bases across the globe, the establishment of a firm border with Mexico using said military assets being reallocated, the closing of federal and state tax loopholes, the legalization and taxing of marijuana and, for that matter all drugs. What we need is a multi-party system so that you don’t sign your allegiance away to parties that are, by and large, driven by radicals on both sides of the aisle. As such, you have to use your conscious to decide the lesser between two evils and, though not ideal, its the process we currently have.
So yeah, in the end I may vote Republican and yes, empower conservative tea party assholes but right now I think we need a firm economic hand and if you want to make the argument that Obama is better at that than Romney go right ahead. You are falling into the “who’d I’d rather hang out with” decision process which is, quite frankly, fucking retarded.
real rap pres
@Numero Two ftw
about time. if more candidates called out the pussy media on their transparent undermining reporting the better off we would all be. wish I could vote for him.
End the Fed. Ronnie Paul is the only real canidate.
wilburham sounds like an extremely smart guy and not at all like an asshat.
@numero 2 – solid & intelligent post. the political system has been hijacked by extremists on both sides and made the whole process a total joke. unfortunately as many great points and ideas you state, i cant see any of them coming to fruition with the current political/social climate in this country. so sorry to rain on your parade and i wish pretty much everything in your post became reality, but the real truth is WE ARE ALL FUCKED no matter who we vote for now. too many lazy, stupid people breeding and leaching, too many rich scumbags lying and corrupting. learn chinese young stoolies, learn chinese. rosettastone.com
Numero Two fucking nailed it
Nothing like using the picture of a dead soldier to further your cause….
@Numero Two, You sir just posted possibly the most intelligent comment ever to grace this website. Well done
Numero Two FTW
Well said, although Chris Rock already said the same thing years ago in his special. Only way a person can vote for Bush twice, is the retarded party system you guys have. Newsflash: you are not voting for sports teams. You can pick a monkey out from the jungle, give him two buttons to mash for “yes” and “no” and it’s pretty much impossible for him to do as much damage as what W. did.
Over/Under on comments on this blog. 125.5. Who ya got?
Thanks Jesus was big just trying to get my point across
Really nothing more to be said after Numero, I’m going under. I won’t vote for Romney because he was to repeal Obamacare when it’s based on his own system that he created in Mass which is just fucking retarded. Also the fact he has no interest in taxing rich people.
Number 2, the “eventually argument is completely ludicrous…why don’t make that argument to the people out there DYING from parkinson’s because George W. bush stopped funding for stem cell research…and that is just one example. actual real economists, and not fox news sensationalists contend that the economy will bounce back, and frankly I have no problem with my paycheck…I do have a problem with a guy worth 150 million dollars wanting to get rid of planned parenthood because they perform abortions (oh by the way, only 3% of what they do are abortions and 50% is providing birth control, so they actually prevent more abortions than they perform).
numero two – great post
Numero, jus read all that. Well said. Ron Paul, Bro.
EZ – people always say things like “the current political climate” or “this campaign was a particularly dirty one”, etc, etc.
Give me a fucking break. Why do people say shit like this, because they read it somewhere??? Newsflash……..IT’S ALWAYS BEEN THIS WAY. ALWAYS. PERIOD.
In 1800 Aaron Burr and Alexander Hamilton had a fucking duel. That’s open political discussion?
Political discourse has always been about mudslinging and extremism.
What does the fact he doesn’t drink have to do with how he would run the country?
I completely agree 10000% pres. I can’t stand Romney or Obama. Definitely writing in “Homer J. Simpson” in November.
Numero two for president…… or at least to replace neil.
Numero two- 1 Pres- 0
Anyone who makes under $500k and votes Republican in this election cycle is a fucking sucker, and the Republicans making over $500k are laughing at you. End of story.
if you love your business, please fucking fire neil. I would rather invite Hitler to my family’s Hannukah dinner than have to read another one of his useless not funny trash blogs.
lets give ole ralphie nader a fucking chance eh?
Excellent post Nu2, the fact reamains though that the people who donate the cash, call the shots.
It’s the most important job in the world, it should be handled like any other high profile job opening, interview the best people for the job and choose based on merit.
Unfortunately politics are overrun with self serving, inexperienced clowns who are making decisions that affect millions of people based soley on their circle of friends/benefactors.
I not going to change anytime soon
Actually the B word,
The only people voting for Obama are either in a union or don’t work.
Those of us who spend 50 hours a week pulling the wagon are tired of the people who do nothing except ride in the wagon. I have no problem with Romney being filthy ass rich. I could care less about his tax returns. I could care less about his dog riding on the roof of his car. If you think Obama gives a shit about you then you’re an idiot. This a-hole is probably one of the most corrupt politicians you’ll ever see in your lifetime.
Romney does not make money in a way that can be translated to a nation accumulating wealth. He makes money for him and his fund managers and then pockets it away in offshore funds and accounts that are not subject to US tax laws. His way of making money literally syphons money out of our economy and keeps it away from the general public.
You are absolutely correct that he is probably better at making money than Obama but, he is not better at making sure his neighbor is making money, he is not better at putting people to work and on top of that he would be reviled by the global marketplace, our ONLY source of future economic growth. You thinkg Americans are going to buy out American debt?
Just out of curiosity, which piece of legislation did Obama propose put people out of work or prevented them from working? Was it when he supported tax-cuts for small businesses? Was it when he insisted that we put more money into our educations system? Was it when the government sponsored reconstruction projects all over the country?
El Pres – this might have been the smartest thing you have ever written except maybe one of those posts about the feminists, those bitches are bonkers.
Why does everybody hate rich people so much? I fucking love them. How many poor mother fuckers are going to give you a job?
Slow clap for Numero Two. And not just for the content. You wrote a comment that was longer than a JT Smithers’ blog and still got people to read the whole thing and not complain. Well done, sir. Well done.
Numero Two has what I would call a disciplined thought process, using sound logic instead of emotion. Very few people have that – most look at politics emotionally. Like Mittens Romney or not, he looks at politics like a business, which is absolutely the way it should be viewed.
@pkmeex: The vast majority of stimulus money intended for te “shovel ready” construction jobs was not used for that. The president himself said “there are no shovel ready jobs.” Unemployment hasn’t fallen. And the department of education is a joke. We spend more total and per student than any other country and our schools have only gotten worse. I think his intentions are good, just misguided.
@harry johnson – That’s weird because there was a redevelopment project funded by the Obama administration going on in Magoun sq, Somerville, Ma just a year and a half ago. As far as spending money on education goes, 7.6% of Norways GDP goes into Education, 33% more than our 5.5%. Not sure where your info is coming from (you made it up) but you may want to recheck it.
You are right, unemployment hasn’t fallen, it has danced around 8% for 60+ months. It started dropping in ’08 though, before Obama was elected.
@pkmeex: So because some of it was used for it’s intended purpose, that negates my argument? Education spending-wise, I was referring to actual dollar amount, not GDP %, nice try though. I do know for a fact that US education spending/costs(including k-12) have risen more since the 1970s than any other country, so I may have confused the two stats. Education spending isn’t a bad thing, the DoE is just fucked. Mark Zuckerberg donated $100B to the Newark schools and it did nothing.
On the topic of this blog post, this senate candidate is the man and it is an absolute travesty that at the end of the day we all have to choose between one of two candidates who have devoted their lives to earning votes. How honest can a person truly be if their livelihood depends on their ability to win over a crowd? The system is fucked and we probably are too. It might be time to claim Canada, they probably wouldn’t put up too big a fight.
Obviously Romney can make money. PKmeex nailed it though, making money in a private equity firm and turning aroudn the US economy have nothign in common. They are actually more opposite than alike. Private equity firms make sure of one thing, that they get paid, often times at the expense of the company they are “helping”. How exactly does this translate to helping the US Economy? I can totally see how it translates to him sucking more money out of the middle and lower class and distributing it to the upper class, the skills he learned in provate equity seem much more applicable to that ability, then helping
the average american worker be a more financially comfortable.
I hate to say it, but with this election I thikn I’m just puntin gthe vote. One guy has good intentions but can’t brign people together to agree with him. He eseentially is fucked no matter what he does, so he can’t be president. I just flat out don’t trust the other guy.
I’m voting for Strahan. Somewhere in that gap lie all the answers to America’s problems
@Harry Johnson – Zuckerburg gave $100 billion? Really? I didn’t even know he had $100 billion to give. Maybe it was $100 million…Yup, it was definitely $100 Million..and I have a relative who’s a teacher in Newark and it 100 Million % did a lot, not nothing. Get your facts straight you pigeon.
Pres, didn’t mean to say it was fucking retarded to go with your gut or who you like if you have been driven to apathy by the two party system. Just sucks that it has gotten to that point for so many people.
Great discussion in here with a bunch of valid points, I don’t want to hijack another person’s blog though but yeah, I just hope we see a dissolution of the two party system before it is too late.
We need a Moon colony ASAP filled with smokes and Stoolies and I think that would be just grand.
-Harry, you make a good point. Pissing into a bucket with holes in it is just going to make a mess and without a better bucket, not much is going to change.
The theory behind Romney’s tax plan is sound on paper, provide tax incentives to large companies so that they will hire more employees. The problem is these companies are run by people, rich people. Very few rich people get that way because of their generosity, or because of their willingness to to risks in expanding. Capital reinvestment is absolutely essential in growing a business but in the post-industrial revolution era, that reinvestment is usually associated with automation, an effort resulting in headcount reductions.
Our economy is in the shitter, that’s true but giving money to big businesses will not result in more jobs. putting money back into developing our infrastructure, our healthcare and our schools will because those areas REQUIRE people to function. You are absolutely correct in saying that some of these systems are broken, maybe they all are, but maybe we could throw some war money into hiring some more people to check on where our tax dollars are actually going so that we don’t wind up with all this corruption bullshit. Case in point, the MBTA hires 3 different consulting firms to scope out EVERY project they undertake, none of whom hold any accountability once their initial consultation is complete, that’s fucked!
Education should be a state-level function; not at the federal level. A guy with a private equity background would calm the jitters in the market and remove a lot of the uncertainty that President Obama’s policies have created. Regardless of what they are, this administration’s policies scare business people.
@pkmeex: Good points.
@plaxicosgun: Yes, I meant $100M. Don’t be a dick.
@murray chadwick – im only commenting on the present day climate – sorry i dont have any idea what it was like when people were sending their political ads out in morse code or letters written with feathers back in the day. i guess to make my point even more clear today’s political climate in combination with the 25/8/366 news media/social media/societal attention spans of 0.0004 seconds has dumbed down the public to insanely retarded levels. sorry if i think that we should be a little more evolved than 1800 society by this point (though an Obama/Romney gun battle would be pretty sick)
@hog73 – so you think Romney gives a shit about you? you think he’s in it to help the people who “pull the wagon 50 hours a week”? bahahhaha ok buddy
@ Harry Johnson – Your right. My apologies. People make mistakes. I’m learning.
wasn’t really ragging on you breezy – didn’t mean it to come off that way. My point was just that every election cycle or race you go to and it’s inevitably “the dirtiest ever” or the worst “climate for discourse ever”. History shows that this has simply always been the case. The speed of communication and information dissemination has obviously warped viewpoints and made inconsequential misquotes from backwoods bumpkin pols into national headlines now. But the tenor and messaging between parties has always been nothing short of insanely acrimonious.
i get it chadwick, not trying to hate on you either – but im saying you think that in this era of uber-instant-documented-referenced information that we’d be beyond (ok not beyond but at least making progress) straight up lying to the general public and pandering the the extremists of both parties (call me naive i guess). i know theres always been distortion, manipulation, and straight up lying from both sides in campaigns since forever, i just thought in the age of the internet/digital documentation/social media that people wouldnt be able to get away with it as much. but in reality i think its made it worse. i dont know if thats because im an idiot and underestimated the process or because im and idiot and gave the American public far more credit than it deserved
hog73, how was Howie Carr today? Obama and Romney are both owned by Wall Street an dmajor corporate interests and get rich or elected on the backs of differing brands of hog73-esque idiots. Campaign finance reform is the only thing that will change this. Both parties are a whole lot more similar on the basic economic issues of our day than people realize. Meanwhile, the middle class continues to get fucked in the ass by a set of policies which advance wall street and corporate interests at the expense of everyone else.
Pres — you ever heard of a primary? You know those things where they decide who each party’s candidate is? Because I’m pretty sure that’s the point where you can ignore the partisan bullshit and vote for whomever you think will best represent your beliefs. Now granted, there are obvious problems with the two party system as well as the primaries — and Ron Paul has been a prime example of that — but you’re making it sound like we only have two choices in each election and like people must vote of one of them based entirely on affiliation and that’s quote simply not the case.
I 100% agree with what hog73 said
It’s funny to go from blogs with commenters telling the authors to kill themselves to shit like this. Fuck political blogs, it makes the comments section lame as fuck.
Número Two- well fucking said bro. However, as a registered Republican I still can’t vote for Romney. It has nothing to do with his faith, Fido hood ornament, or Obamacare. My issues are that he has no answers for the issues. Sure, he knows how to play the ‘I’m going to put more money in everyone’s pocket’ card, but that’s just him knowing what the foremost problem is on the mind of Americans and saying he will fix it. No different than Obama campaigning basically on an anti-Bush agenda. His record at Bain Capital doesn’t necessarily put me off but it doesn’t put me on either. I don’t see ANY hint of the leadership qualities that I’m looking for considering that is our current president’s biggest weakness. I didn’t vote for Obama because I felt he lacked any credible experience to lead the Free World in a fragile time that had/has our country at war on 2 fronts, a crumbling economy, a surging deficit, and the decline of our image worldwide. And sure as shit he has not gotten the job done. He’s made it worse. However, being completely honest, aside from the experience, I don’t see any qualities that makes me believe Romney will be any different. Our biggest issue now is the fact the Congress is completely fractured down party lines and needs a president that can step in and LEAD. There’s no reason, in my opinion, to believe Romney has the qualities to do that. While I can’t believe I’m saying this, having Obama in a lame duck 2nd term and having zero pressure to make everybody happy and ensure his reelection, maybe he can finally get something accomplished. The bottom line is this country needs a LEADER and neither man is that. Maybe we’re better off with the turd we know rather than the one we don’t. But that’s just my opinion.
And for the record, I can’t believe how many intelligible commenters there are here. Stunning. Especially when I just got finished reading some of the same ones comments saying ‘Kill yourself Neil’ on another blog. I actually might have learned something here today. Holy. Shit.
