I find the timing of the two deals interesting, obviously the Pats had no real interest in re-signing Welker, why did the wait until Welker was signed before the announced the Ammendola deal? I have to figure the Ammendola deal has basically been in the drawer for a while. Any chance they were trying to make other teams think the Pats would stay in on him to drive the price up for other teams some of those teams being direct competition for a championship? Denver, Houston, Indy? It also helped welker get more money.

They offered Wes $5 million a year and he told them to beat it, that’s as cap friendly as they could go with Welker. Last year when he seperated his shoulder it popped into his socket instead of out and if went any deep they told him he would have died.
