So this chick lit up Twitter during the Olympic Opening ceremonies. People freaking about the heat that Sri Lanka was bringing. Turns out Christine Merrill couldn’t be more American if she tried. She went to UC San Diego. She’s lived her entire life here. She’s works for San Diego’s Solar Turbine in the customer design division. So how did she end up representing Sri Lanka in track? Well her grandfather lives there and wrote an article in a local paper about his grand daughter’s track career including her DII 400 hurdles championship.
