Most death row inmates are on death row for a long-ass time before they’re executed, so if they were wrongly convicted, they have a shot at having it overturned. The system ain’t perfect, but trials are usually fair, this isn’t the USSR where you got taken out back and Yuri and Mikhail put a bullet in your head. Judges will throw out damning evidence all the time if it was obtained shadily or if it’s too prejudicial, etc. And guilty people walk sometimes too. I admit that restraint should be used in sentencing someone to death, but how can you argue against guys like Timothy McVeigh getting the needle? Or that asshole Mumia Abu-Jamal (I know his sentence was commuted, relax).
