Another Angle Of The Dunk Of The Century
I blogged about this dunk earlier today. Here is another angle that has me totally confused. Did this kid not push off on the honkey to elevate even higher like I originally assumed he did? It doesn’t look it right? It looks like this is just how high he jumped. It’s surreal. I feel like I’m getting punk’d watching this. Who is this kid? This is the most devastating dunk of all time right? His entire fucking head is above the rim.
PS – What’s the move when you get dunked on like this? Play dead like this cracker was doing? Or does that make it worse? I think you just have to get up and jog to the other end like nothing happened right? One thing I do know is calling a timeout makes it about a billion times worse though.

You could see it from the other angle as well, the guy clearly steps on the dudes crossed arms and leverages himself up for the dunk. Should have been call an offensive foul.

i’ll admit that i’m no expert on the game of basketball, i never played on an organized team and it’s number 3 on the sports-watching totem pole for me. but i never quite understood the reason why it’s considered to be so embarrassing to get dunked on. i mean, the defender can’t hit the guy with the ball, right? so all you can really do is stand in his way or maybe jump with him, but i doubt you have much chance of blocking it. and even shaq would get knocked over if you took a running leap at him and he could only stand there. it’s just a spectacular play on the part of the offensive player, i never feel like the defender was really physically dominated. if you ask me, it just looks bad, but it’s not a result of bad defensive play. can any of you baller stoolies help me out on this one?

jesus…don’t just downvote me, tell me why i’m wrong. it was an honest question. just never got into b-ball as a kid. i love football and hockey, and the idea of the ball/puck carrier not being fair game to be laid out never agreed with me. and in my mind, the only way to defend a dunk is to lay the airborne player out like a wide receiver coming across the middle. if you can’t do that, then fuck if i know how to stop it.

Yea not a charge. Kids still moving to the spot from inside the restricted area when homeboy takes flight. If he had been set up before the kid jumped though, then a charge.

@concrete, shut up you slug, just because the dude’s feet were moving doesnt mean it wasnt a foul. he had position first, doesnt matter that his feet werent 100% set. and there is no restricted area in high school basketball but you wouldnt know that because youre a loser who never played sports
There is only one play on this as the defender and it goes beyond the one dunk. ANY player that comes at you like that, you take the legs out from under and let them crash to the floor. You do not let them score. You stand up for any team member who does the same thing. You can’t do it? Play volleyball. If they get up unhurt, they will not make the move again or never did when I made that intentional foul. (No NBA just played through DIV lll college) It sounds dirty but it isn’t.

@shitstain…ok, i get that, and i’m down with spilling a guy. basketball would be a much more entertaining sport if you could legally body people. but when the only legal play is to stand in their way or just try to jump with them without the same momentum as the offensive player has in his jump, how the fuck are you going to laugh at the guy that gets dunked on. again, i think it LOOKS embarrassing, but there’s not much you can really do in a lot of instances.

This was a sick dunk, and while close – it was NOT a charge. Doesn’t matter though, anyone who thinks this is the sickest dunk ever (and weeps for white boys) need only to do a quick YouTube search for Tom Chambers/Mark Jackson.

Tom Chambers over Mark Jackson, same thing. When you jump on a guy and put your foot in his midsection and kick some more speed, it’s not hard to get higher than usual. Chambers dunked downwards, so did this guy in the end. He doesn’t jump that much without the help.
Oh, and it doesn’t matter if he’s in the restricted area you morons, kicking yourself up from another players stomach is an offensive foul. There is no restricted area for that.

The defender should be embarassed because he just got posterized and kneed in the face and dunked on like a chump. What he SHOULD have done is protected his nuts, put his head down, and leaned w/ his shoulder into the guy dunkings knees/legs preventing him from completing the shot – either a) dunker gets called for a charge/offensive foul or b) dunkee gets called for a foul, no points are scored, and disheveled dunker has to pick himself off the ground and try to make a couple free throws.
About the “how does he jump so high” comments – you guys stupid? Some people can flat out jump. Remember that 5’6 midget Nate Robinson who played for the Celts? He could dunk on command, 360′s he won the dunk contest – HE IS 5’7 tops! So after seeing shit like that nothing surprises me

Is this only impressive because the NHL is locked out? I feel like this happens at least twice in every basketball game that has ever been played by men over 12 years old.
How is it impressive that a guy jumped and put a ball in a hole when the other team isn’t allowed to touch him? It baffles me daily that men watch such a dainty sport and get excited about it.
