Gonu.com - In the ninth installment of his weekly video blog, Northeastern athletic director Peter Roby congratulates the women’s ice hockey team on its recent Beanpot championship. The Huskies captured their 15th Beanpot title with a thrilling come-from-behind overtime victory against rival Boston University. Roby then delivers a strong rebuke to Barstool Sports for its response to Northeastern students regarding Barstool’s Blackout Tour and its dangerous objectification of women. He talks about the recent tour stop in Boston and commends the Northeastern students who took an active role in speaking out against the tour. He addresses the reaction by Barstool and its followers to the protests, saying they demonized many of the student activists and that “there’s a precedent for demonizing people who don’t agree with you, and it never results in good things for our society.”

“It’s something that many of us who understand the things that contribute to men’s violence against women take very seriously,” he cautions. “All of us that have women in our lives that we care deeply about should be offended.”

Pres – Have you ever read Barstool Sports before?

Roby – No I haven’t.

Pres – So it’s fair to assume that you don’t realize that almost every single blog that has been written over the past decade is clearly satirical in nature and makes fun of every aspect of life?   Everything from murder, to teacher sex scandals to the Holocaust, to cancer to violence etc has been made fun of?

Roby – Well like I said I hadn’t read it before so no I didn’t realize that.  But I still don’t think making rape jokes is ever acceptable.

Pres – Does that mean you are going to publicly condemn Northeastern for paying Tosh. O to come on Campus in a school sponsored event and do stand up in which he did a 5 minute bit on rape?

Roby – Who is Tosh.O?  Is that a computer game?   And yes I think I would condemn any person or organization that makes rape related jokes even if they intent is to be funny.  Rape jokes are never funny no matter what the situation.  Trust me I know more than you about this stuff.

Pres – So then you have a problem with  Daily Show, George Carlin, Chris Rock, Louis CK, NBC, ABC, CBS and basically the entire entertainment world who has ever made off color rape jokes?

Roby – Yes I suppose I do.

Pres –  I guess that begs the question.  Is rape the only thing in the world that people can’t make light off?  In other words how do you know where to draw the line in the sand?  What about murder, cancer, aids etc?   What about violence on TV and in video games?  Using your logic couldn’t you say normalizing  any of these issues through humor makes people more prone to accept it and engage in dysfunctional behavior?

Roby – Wait I attended a conference and you didn’t.

Pres– Ok that was an unfair question.   Let’s change gears.  Do you know that in the past 8 years of being in business KO Barstool could only find 2 instances of rape jokes from us?  And that in both cases it was in the context of discussing a national news story regarding rape?  IE the blog was written in the same tone as virtually every other blog regardless of subject matter?

Roby – I’ll tell you what I do know.   I know that our  women’s hockey team won the Beanpot.  Yay girls!

Ok you want me to tell the truth?  I actually thought that the entire premise of Barstool Sports was that men should beat and rape women.   But you got to understand that I am basing my opinion 100% on what KO Barstool has told me and has been telling the media.   Why would they ever say anything that wasn’t the truth?

Pres – Speaking of what KO Barstool has been telling people I noticed you said we’ve demonized them. I assume you mean because I’ve repeatedly called them ugly dykes who hate fun and just love to protest shit?

Roby – That’s correct

Pres – Well what do you think is more demonizing?  Starting a movement called KO Barstool designed to put us out of business.  Telling people that we condone rape. Saying anybody who reads our site condones rape.   Showing up at our events and screaming at the girls calling them sluts and calling guys rapists.  Sending press releases to every news outlet saying our parties are dangerous.   Complaining to Menino about the term Blackout.  Saying we promote violence against women.  Taking everything we say out of context.   Is that not more demonizing than me responding to their non stop assaults and lies by saying they are ugly feminists who hate pretty girls and can’t be taken seriously?

Roby – Well before I answer that let me ask you this?  How many sexual assaults or incidents have there been in the 8 years of doing parties?

Pres – Umm zero.

Roby – Hmm I guess when you put it that way I guess I’d kind of be upset too.   You got to understand though I’m basing everything I said on what the KO Barstool girls  and the media has written about the situation.

Pres – I guess I’m just surprised that somebody as brilliant as you profess to be didn’t sit back and think to himself before making this video.   Like did you ever wonder why the millions of people both male and female who read Barstool have all uniformly defended us against KO Barstool accusations?   Why they have all said the rape culture accusations are ludicrous and that anybody remotely familiar with the site know’s it’s 100% garbage?  Why the only people complaining are people who never read the site before and didn’t even know it existed until getting a press release from KO Barstool? Could it be possible these feminists have an axe to grind because they weren’t nominated for Smokeshow of the Day?  You seriously never questioned how  millions of guys and girls can defend a blogger that openly promotes rape?   Wouldn’t that raise a red flag in your head that maybe you don’t have the full story?

Roby –  I have a better question for you.  Do you think my sweater vest makes me look important?
