ProFootballTalk – A “bizarre scene” is apparently unfolding in the Jets open locker room, as linebacker Bart Scott apparently threatened to punch a reporter. According to the Twitter feed of Bart Hubbuch of the New York Post, the incident began when Dan Leberfeld of JetsConfidential.com took a cell phone photo of Scott, who then suggested Leberfeld “get a life.” Words were exchanged, and according to Hubbuch, Jets PR man Bruce Speight stepped between the two, the “only thing that seemed to prevent fisticuffs.” Scott apparently threatened to punch Leberfeld, who replied “Yeah, and I’ll sue you!” Scott said: “I don’t care!”

I’m shocked… shocked!… to think that the Jets would be involved in such an ugly incident.  I mean, wasn’t this the year that Shrex Ryan said they were going to knock off the bullshit?  Didn’t the team send all their coaches and players to one of those goofy leadership seminars CEOs go to to learn about conflict resolution and working together for common goals and all that crap?  Wasn’t this the same club that just last week said they were sick of being called a “circus”?  Hell, is this the team that brought in Tim Tebow so all his high character/role model/charity work/great human being/good Christian/magic pixie dust leaderishness would rub off on everyone?  And here they are, two weeks into the season already going all “I’m gonna punch you!” and the press is like “Yeah, and I’ll sue you!” and the Jets go “I don’t care!” and the reporters are like “Yeah well, I’ll get you at recess!” Really, it’s stunning coming from such a team of mature, thoughtful veterans like Bart Scott.  I’ll try not to let it destroy my faith in them.
