Awesome day huh? Like I said two weeks ago Tom Brady is arguably one of the worst QB’s in the league right now. I mean Kyle Orton was MUCH better than him today and those are fighting words. It’s hard enough to win in this league without your QB killing you. Yeah I know he’s a legend regardless of whether he completes another pass the rest of his career but let’s call a spade a spade. He’s flat out sucked this year.

Ugh. It would be pretty stupid to write off Brady entirely, but hard to argue his poor performance wasn’t the difference today. He missed Moss and Welker on separate plays that each would’ve made the difference. He was often off target to Welker and Watson, even on their TD’s. Today seemed to be a series of 3-and-outs punctuated with a couple of longer drives and a missed FG. Brady looked like an average NFL QB, and he had plenty of time all day. Rough day when Kyle Orton clearly outshines your QB.
Is it too much to ask for BB to just find the opposing team’s coach and give him a decent handshake so it’s never an issue?
some points:
-give brady time, dude hasn’t played football for a year, timing takes a long ass time to get adjusted to, could still be another 5-10 games before brady is fully back.
-defense was horrendous, and just a bad game plan. they kept running soft zones to keep things underneath, but when you get no pressure on orton, he just picks you apart.
-stupid mistakes killed us, i.e. offsides by tully in the end, missed field goals, and just containment problems on runs. outside end must CONTAIN for reason. shake your man, scoot outside, and force the back in.
-still my biggest gripe this year, playcalling. we really are missing mcdaniels. the pats are almost playing for 3rd down this year, completely content with stupid long handoffs that end up in 3 yards, then run it again, then deal with another 3rd and 4. and when the other team physically cannot cover welker, THROW on 3rd and short. where was edelman and welker on the field at the same time in a spread, with randy outside???
-as far as the handshake is concerned, don’t get fussy about it. apparently bill spoke to rex ryan in the tunnel for 10 mins after the game last week complimenting him. he just tries to get off the field so he doesnt have to deal with the media
and also, let’s be honest, we would have been lucky to win that game. way too many missed opportunities; missed interceptions, stupid penalties, missed throws, bad defense throughout, bad playcalling, timely turnovers, etc
The play calling is what sucks, they miss McDaniels.
Get used to it. It took Carson Palmer almost two years to come back from a similar injury, and even then he’s only about 75% of what he was before Olhaufen cheapshotted him. Brady will slowly get better and so will the Pats. But it will take a lot of time. And yes, they dearly miss McDaniels’ play calling.

Brady definitely hasn’t come back completely. What is the most annoying though is the Patriots defense making QBs look like Johnny Unitas. Watch Orton for the next three weeks. At SD, At Balt, Pitt at home. SD has a tendency to make QBs look great but I know he won’t look all-world.

fuckin overtime rule is bullshit….they gotta get rid of the coin toss or at least make it interesting……..they gotta make it so that if you win the toss and take the ball, you cant kick a field goal….this would somewhat level the field when it comes to who has the ball first and might even make a team or two defer so if they get a stop they have the ability to kick the field goal….
or your defense can do its job…how come they can come up with stops all day but then fold when it’s sudden death?

Room for optimism in that Brady, Moss, and Welker all seem to be off their game; play calling can only get better; defense is younger, more physical and looking pretty decent, some obvious gaffes aside.
yea george i was thinking about the OT stuff. and the one point supporters of this system make that i kinda agree with, is that you can win the game with your offense or defense. but still, when you lose like this, its hard to see brady get his first OT loss when he didn’t even touch the ball.

As bad as this loss is for the Pats, they’re far from done. They beat a Falcons team last week that is beyond legit (they decimated the 49ers with ease today). It’s going to take Brady time to get his form back. Remember that he was really out of football for closer to two years since he didn’t play at all last year. Rust isn’t an easy thing to shake off.
