Yahoo – Boston Red Sox players blasted manager Bobby Valentine to owners John Henry and Larry Lucchino during a heated meeting called after a text message was sent by a group of frustrated players to the team and ownership in late July, three sources familiar with the meeting told Yahoo! Sports.  The owners called the meeting for Boston’s off-day in New York on July 27 after first baseman Adrian Gonzalez, texting on behalf of himself and some teammates, aired their dissatisfaction with Valentine for embarrassing starting pitcher Jon Lester by leaving him in to allow 11 runs during a July 22 start. Gonzalez and Dustin Pedroia were among the most vocal in the meeting, in which some players stated flatly they no longer wanted to play for Valentine, the sources said. The tenor of the 2 p.m. meeting at The Palace hotel in New York turned ugly almost immediately, according to the sources, whom Yahoo! Sports granted anonymity because they were not authorized to speak about internal matters.

Not all of the Red Sox players attended the meeting, the sources said, highlighting the chasm that exists not only between some players and Valentine but among players in the clubhouse. The perception that Valentine is being scapegoated unfairly to divert attention from mediocre performances by star players exists among some players, according to sources.

Red Sox general manager Ben Cherington confirmed the meeting.  Ownership has not wavered in its support of Valentine since the meeting, and the sources said players have accepted that Valentine will remain manager for at least the rest of the season.

Issues that have inflamed players range far and wide. Leaving in Lester, a well-respected figure in the clubhouse, to get blasted for 11 runs and four home runs against Toronto soured players already beaten down by Valentine’s managerial style. Valentine uttering “Nice inning, kid” to rookie third baseman Will Middlebrooks after he made a defensive blunder only furthered the animus toward the 62-year-old, who is managing in the major leagues for the first time since 2002. Since spring training, players have chafed at Valentine’s careless – and occasionally self-serving – interactions with the Boston media, which his predecessor, Terry Francona, handled adroitly.

“I don’t think it’s that uncommon for complaints to be made during the season,” Cherington told Yahoo! Sports. “I’m not going to comment specifically on those complaints. Our owners felt, given where we were at that time in the season, given the collective frustration, we had not accomplished what we wanted to. It was time to get together and hash things out. There were no ultimatums issued. There were concerns expressed. Some very positive things expressed, too. We felt that it was an opportunity to get things off people’s chests and move forward.”Ben Cherington (L) confirmed the meeting. (AP)

First things first.  Please click on the circus video and let the music play while you read this blog.   It makes it that much better.    Anyway it’s the same old song and dance with these fucking clowns.   You got Adrian Gonzalez sending text messages to ownership to complain about the manager.  Hey Adrian did you ever think that maybe playing for Bobby V was in god’s plan huh?  Isn’t that how you nonchalantly explained being part of the most titanic September collapse in history?  No need to get mad or take blame for anything.  Everything in life is part of god’s plan.  So what changed now?  Why are you sending bitchy text messages to the owners like a 2nd grade girl?

I mean yeah I get it.  It must suck to play for a hard ass manager who doesn’t treat you like infants.   Why can’t you play for a laid back manager like Tito anymore who treats you like you’re in a day spa.  Life is so unfair.  Hey whatever happened to that guy?  Oh that’s right you guys ran him out of town last year when you boozed, ate fried chicken, played video games and lost 50 straight games in September.  The most popular manager in the history of the franchise packed up his shit and said he lost control of the clubhouse and nobody listened to him anymore.   Poor fucking babies.

This brings me to my next point.   What good do you think crying to the ownership about Bobby V will do?  Who the fuck do you think hired him?  Ben Cherrington didn’t want Bobby V.  He didn’t even set up the interview.  The One Eyed Bandit did it behind Cherington’s back.  Ownership hired him because of what jackasses you were last year.   It wasn’t a secret who Bobby V was.  He is exactly as advertised and you guys are bitching and moaning to the people who hired him. If you want somebody fired it should be Lucchino.

But the truth of the matter is Bobby V wasn’t here when you choked last year.   He wasn’t here when you guys took advantage of Tito.  All the problems that surfaced last September still exist now because of the players in the clubhouse.  You guys sucked before he showed up and you still suck.   And as far as I know nobody seems to want to take responsibility for that fact.  All anybody does is point the finger at other people. It’s bizzaro world stuff.     Ownership could hire Hitler and the players should act like they like it. Honestly the balls on these guys to complain is literally unreal. It shows just how detached and delusional these idiots are. It’s a slap in the face to everybody who roots for this team and supports them. Just shut up and do your job like you get paid millions to do. You want to belong to a country club? Retire and play golf.  I fucking hate this team.  If only John Henry would come back from Liverpool and dining with Lebron I’m sure he’d fix this situation ASAP.
