Though their present is a shaky situation at best (12th place in the Wales), the Bruins made a move with an eye toward the future (again) by signing Tuukka Rask to a two year contract extension. As per Bruins’ policy, terms weren’t disclosed…even though they can be looked up online once the contract is filed with the league.

Starter Tim Thomas is already signed through the ’12-’13 season at $5M a whack, meaning the Bs will likely have about 6.5-7 million tied up in the crease for the two seasons after this one. If/when Rask emerges as bona fide #1, it’s not a stretch to assume the Bs would try to move Tank to a team in search of a proven starter and he wouldn’t have any trouble dumping a Vezina winner at that price. But let’s worry about scoring a goal first.
