This has to be some sort of a record, right? I mean, usually it takes, 4 days? 3 days at least? Before opponents start shooting their mouths off about the Patriots. They usually at least make a perfunctory effort to keep their cake holes shut and not poke the bear. Hell, Wade Phillips held out all the way to Friday before he couldn’t take it any more and let it slip he thinks Wes Welker is some unathletic little overachiever type. Typically you don’t start hearing this drivel until at least at least midweek when morons like this start doing radio shows and conference calls and the like. But Brendon Ayanbadejo couldn’t make to bedtime Sunday night before the stupid came out. He’s the Roger Bannister of Bulletin Board Fodder.
So let’s look at Brendon’s argument: The Patriots are “suspect” because they… what? Don’t let defenses get set? Like they owed it to Houston last night on 1st & goal from the 2 to make sure they were good to go before snapping the ball? Is that about it? Like Brady should be required to say “Hey, fellas. You look confused. We’re all set, but why don’t you get all lined up and give us a signal when you’re ready? Sound good?” Because being faster, smarter and more practiced than the defense you’re playing is #bitchassness and not mano y mano. Got it. I guess instead of putting him down for sounding like a moron, I should give him credit for holding out a good hour before he brought up those old chestnuts SpyGate and 18-1. That’s probably his personal best. But I guess when you’re a 10 year veteran with 153 career tackles (16 in 2012) and 4.5 sacks, you’ve earned the right to pop off. Ravens fan here. Ayanabedejo is a class-a fucking clown. Thinks he’s smart because he has progressive social views but is dumber than maybe every other player on the roster. He ditched his lane on the second half opening kickoff last week and watched Holliday run right through it for six. This is a guy who can’t play linebacker worth a lick and is only on the team because he’s supposed to be a top notch special teamer. Since that’s clearly not the case, he should be cut. I don’t think any other Ravens player or fan thinks that a hurry-up offense is cheap. I can’t even think of a single reason why anybody would think that, so I’m not even going to waste anymore time typing about it.
Lastly, I know the idea of a Pats-Ravens rivalry will be pushed on us by the mainstream media and barstool, but calling it a rivalry is kind of an insult to rivalries. One wild-card round game, one AFC championship, and a couple of decent regular season games over a 5-year period does not a rivalry make. Sure, Suggs and Brady have a personal rivalry, but that’s about as far as it goes. I wanted the Pats to win last night because I wanted revenge for last year; that doesn’t mean I consider the Patriots a rival. Are we now basically just saying that if two teams happen to be good over the same 5-year period of time they are automatically rivals? Maybe that is the case now and I’m wrong, but it seems to me like a rivalry should be based on something more.

Just heard Felger pick the Ravens, on the logic of “How many 31yd fieldgoals can one team miss?” basically equating all the drops and misses to the Patriot’s success. He does have a point about their miscues… But who in their right mind saw that last game in september and thought “Ravens won fair and square, mano y mano.” Blow me with that shit. Our defense grew, our offense is more dynamic. If we get into a rhythm early with the hurry-up it’s going to be a glorious day.
