Previously with the New York Jets:

*Wednesday, a bunch of Jets players went behind Tim Tebow’s back and said he’s “a gimmick” who can’t help the team. And one guy even said “He’s terrible.”  So then one of the bosses calls him “a winner” and still another said he supports Mark Sanchez and blames the fact they stink on “some of the players he’s throwing to. It’s garbage. I’ve seen better receiving corps in college than we have on our team.”

*So then Thursday Tebow goes “I felt some frustration and I guess some sadness.” And he’s like “It’s not always fun having people saying negative things about you, but you try to be stronger from it… It’s a little disappointing, but you try to go about your business and improve and get better and not let this affect you negatively at all,” But then he says it’s “a little unique,” even though he doesn’t care who’s badmouthing him. “That doesn’t help me. That doesn’t help you do anything… just makes you think about it more. It can be a little frustrating or saddening…”

*But then Shone Greene is all like “Something’s got to change. When you get to the point where you’re 3-6, and losing and losing, a couple of guys are like, ‘Oh, what would happen [if Tebow played]?’ But guys at the same time have faith in Mark, so it’s kind of an up-and-down thing.”

*But then when someone asks Greene about saying Tebow should start Greene goes “no way” and a reporter is like “way” and Greene says “I said nothing about Tebow needs to be a starting quarterback.”

*Also apparently,  Joe Namath had been spreading rumors around that the owner, Woody Johnson, doesn’t even care about winning.  Joe says Woody just wants Tebow so he can make money selling Personal Seat Licenses and crap. “It’s more toward grabbing headlines, and everything starts at the top. And you can go back to when the seat licenses were initiated, how we started conducting things. I don’t think winning has been put at the top of the board.”

*Which makes Johnson mad. And so he gets all up in everybody’s stuff and he’s like “uh-UHH”: “This I really want to clear up. You guys have been accusing me of this phony story of me being more concerned with PSLs or cash or something else. Listen, my job 1, 2 and 3 is to win games. That’s why I got into football to begin with – is to win games… It’s not to sell PSLs or to sell hot dogs.”

…And I think that’s pretty much it for this week. I mean, there were some other things about Rex Ryan saying they “had a phenomenal week of practice” for the 45th week in a row and something about them believing they still have a shot at the playoffs.  And maybe something about St. Louis on Sunday.  But none of that is what makes the Jets worth watching.  Anyway, there’s still six more days before they play the Patriots, so stay tuned.  @JerryThornton1
