WEBSTER GROVES — When Chaminade’s Mason Hutson kicked a 48-yard field goal with 6.9 seconds left in Saturday’s Class 5 quarterfinal game, it looked like Webster Groves’ promising season was over. The Statesmen, the top-ranked team in Class 5, had time for one last play. Then Derrick Dilworth found sophomore wide receiver Demetrius Robinson streaking down the left sideline for an 80-yard touchdown pass that gave Webster Groves a dramatic 34-29 come-from-behind victory and sent fans rushing onto the grass at Moss Field.
Yikes! That was one crazy ending. I mean since when do high school guys nail 48 yard game winners? Not to mention the fact that QB has pretty good fucking arm too. Almost seemed like a college game to me. Either way great emotion. Great ending. Great everything. But it still doesn’t hold a candle to the most famous crazy ending game in the history of football. I’m sure most people have seen this a million times by now but just in case you haven’t here it is….
