Darrelle Revis is Talking Holdout. This is Not a Repeat From 2 Years Ago
PFT – Two years after holding out of training camp before getting a new contract, Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis isn’t sure if he’s going to do it again. Revis was asked today if he will definitely report to training camp on Day One, and he answered, “I don’t know,” according to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News. Another Revis holdout has been the subject of speculation since almost the very day he signed his current four-year contract… The four-year contract Revis signed two years ago paid him $32.5 million in the first two years, but he’s set to make only (only?) $13.5 million over the next two years. At the time he signed that deal, he made clear that he didn’t think a player of his stature should settle for $6.75 million a year, which is what he’ll average in 2012 and 2013. “If I continue to play ball like I usually do, we’ll probably be back at that same position we were this year,” Revis said in 2010.
Congratulations, Jets. You created the Revistein monster and now he’s coming back to destroy you. You’re the ones who pumped this guy,s tires. You’re the ones who created this Revis Island myth and every time he got beaten on a coverage (it happens to every DB) insisted it was somebody else’s blown assignment because Darrelle can cover 5 receivers at once. You’re the ones who spent an entire season of Hard Knocks chasing him around to secret locations to lick his boots and beg him to please give you the honor of accepting your $32 million. And then when he finally did come back you treated him like a Medal of Honor winner returning from the front. Well surprise. Now he’s pulling the same thing all over again. And acting like he’s bigger than the team because that’s how you’ve treated him. And you’ve got no choice but to hand him a blank check to fill out however he wants because you’ve convinced your team, your ticket buyers and yourselves a cornerback – a cornerback!- is indispensable. On an 8-8 team. Nice way to build a team. Meanwhile with the Patriots, Kyle Arrington led the NFL in interceptions last year is fighting for his job and the most prolific pass catcher in the game only has a 1-year deal and is working his ass off at OTAs. I guess that’s the difference between the two teams. Rex Ryan runs his team his way and Belichick runs his his. It’s just ironic that Revis is the one calling people “jerk” and “asshole.” @JerryThornton1

jets stink.
You had a good blog going until you brought up New England as an example of good pass defense.
why waste your time blogging this? the jets suck. let kfc go nuts with it
didnt this blog happen a few weeks ago when the story first broke? JT are you getting your news via telegram or something?
I’m sure Revis, Woody Johnson and Rex Ryan will sort this whole thing out. This ain’t some fucking slapdick team, this is the fucking New York Jets. They’ll sit down and discuss this over a damn snack.
Jerry, how is your wife and my kids?
WHAT ABOUT WELKAAAHH
At this point, these blogs suck since the Jets are irrelevant. Especially Bevis…
Buffalo will finish ahead of the Jets in the AFC East. Fact.
