by Cletus Van Damme on January 3, 2010 at 1:40 pm
It aint over. Remember when OC came back for the last two games in 80 to complete the Miracle on Ice. 30 years later Wes comes back…. Just sayen that it aint over.
by rugby on January 3, 2010 at 1:42 pm
there is no doubt that Welker tore his ACL. that is fact. he is completely done.
but only if we had another small, white, quick reciever that could replace him.
oh wait. we literally have exactly that.
by Dirtdog52 on January 3, 2010 at 1:44 pm
whats odd is if it was a legitimate injury… why wasn’t his knee elevated and being iced immediately? I was lucky enough to never tear anything, but I’ve seen alot of them and usually the guy is in alot of pain… he looked upset but was walkin (kinda) and didnt look like he was suffering. Edelman is looking good too, so im not throwin in the towel just yet
by Nino24 on January 3, 2010 at 1:44 pm
This is the epitome of horse shit. There is practically nothing to play for this week (do we really care about being 3rd seed). The risk is so much greater than the reward. If he is out for the season, you can pretty much kiss the super bowl goodbye, all for a fkn pointless game.
Sure this could happen any game, but it didnt, so cut your losses and bench the starters. I am just waiting for Brady to get smashed.
by DSully2001 on January 3, 2010 at 1:45 pm
Looked like the ACL buckled. Unreal.
by Buddy Revel on January 3, 2010 at 1:48 pm
He’s gone, no question. I just don’t see them beating any of the playoff teams without him. They can play everyone now for the entire game.

by bradymancrush on January 3, 2010 at 2:14 pm
I would bet my life that EP put BIG money on Welker having a huge game today.

I was thinking the same thing as it was happening. They didn’t have it elevated and nobody was even looking at him on the bench. If it was serious, would everyone on the medical staff and Bob Kraft himself have been down on the field massaging that knee…and anything else Welker wanted rubbed?
I’m betting not as serious as everybody is saying and he’ll be back next week.
by McLovin on January 3, 2010 at 2:32 pm
Murph he was bawling though. I think he knew he tore something and realized there was no reason to be rushed anywhere.
by soxpatscelts on January 3, 2010 at 2:33 pm
no one was around him cause there isnt anything you do for an ACL, it swells up, then after a week or two the swelling goes down and you have surgery…. it was over, they knew it, nothing they could do but wait for the cart
by LobstersClaw on January 3, 2010 at 2:44 pm

And, Pats can’t play Jets next week. Jets win and they play at Cincinnati next week. Jets lose, they are out. Very simple.
by McLovin on January 3, 2010 at 3:02 pm
I’ll tell ya what else is very simple. The Pats go no shot at a title without Welker.
by Hung Like a Light Switch on January 3, 2010 at 3:04 pm
hey EP, you said this would be a bye week for us…what happened there huh? what are the pats playing for exactly?
by ericde3793 on January 3, 2010 at 3:08 pm
Of course it is harder to win it all without him, but what is whining and crying in this room going to do about it? And for those who say thye have no shot, I expect you to be doing something else when they are on next week because you believe there is no reason to watch. Maybe go to the opera you pussies.

Question” Stats for short white tough Pats slot receiver today.
No shot? Want to think that one over again? Edelman plays the same exact packag Welker plays. Again, not good news today, but lets stop with the drama and act like men.
by ericde3793 on January 3, 2010 at 3:21 pm
And all you pussy fair weather fans should stay home next week. Gillette has turned into the biggest group of pussies in the NFL? Lets get some of the real fan base in there next week for a real home field advantage.

by Quann on January 3, 2010 at 3:31 pm
I’m no doctor, but I’m afraid it’s a torn ACL. You can limp and walk around on a torn ACL if there is no meniscus damage. Just look at Brady walking off the field last year after he blew out his knee.
The grass at Reliant Stadium blows. I’ve seen at least 10 different guys during this game lost their footing. Without Welker, we are cooked.
by deepthreat on January 3, 2010 at 3:34 pm
It looked more like an MCL to me.
If it’s a torn ligament, it doesn’t matter which one – he’s out for the playoffs.
Just hope that it’s a sprain that he can come back from and if not, adjust.
And that looks exactly like what Belichick is doing by putting Brady back in.

I love all the Medical Doctors on the board. “Looks like the ACL collapsed…” Really? You can see INSIDE the guy’s knee? And BTW-the ACL is the part of the knee that allows the knee to move up and down. Since I’m just as much of a Orthopedist as everyone else, to me, it looks like it’s a lateral knee ligament. I’m guessing Lateral Collateral Ligament. Either way, he and the Patriots are fucked. Fuck, fuck, fuck!
by deepthreat on January 3, 2010 at 4:08 pm

“Lateral collateral ligament”.

I’ll say this, Edelman (<—-spelling?) looks good. Think we could pull through with him.
by Quann on January 3, 2010 at 4:38 pm
The ACL moves the knee up and down? On what planet is that true. I blew mine out, the ACL provides a stable knee and keeps it from overrotating and the tibia from sliding forward. It has nothing to do with the knee going up and down. Nice try doc.

Upon further review, the time on the comments start at 1:01 PM.
Please tell me that El PresDouche didn’t adjust the time on the thread to make it look like Barstool was more on top of the incident than they really were? I hope I am reading too much into this, and that this site hasn’t stooped that low.
Although it wouldn’t surprise me.
Second, it is absolutely HYSTERICAL all the idiots on this thread, 1. talking about how “it looks like only a mild sprain and he should be back soon” and 2. “at least we have Edleman to fill in, ya know because he is white too”.
Complete idiocy. Anyone that didn’t see this was a serious injury is a complete and total idiot. Best case on Welker was a severe sprain and a 2-4 week recovery meaning he MIGHT have been back for the Superbowl.
Reading some of this stupidity made me embarrassed to share the same fanbase with these blind fanboys.
Good luck to Welker. A fantastic season and a shame it ended the way it did.
