FL – The date started as an evening stroll on the beach, but ended in an armed carjacking in a Wendy’s parking lot. Donald Bernard McGee Jr., 19, of Hollywood, courted a Lake Worth woman after the two exchanged text messages and photos and agreed to meet Friday, according to a Boynton Beach Police Department arrest report. After a walk through the Boynton Ocean Inlet Park, the date ended when they headed to a Wendy’s parking lot at around 10 p.m. to wait for McGee’s brother to pick him up, the woman told police. That’s when McGee whipped out a gun and demanded she get out of the car, according to the arrest report. The woman said she ran to a nearby BP gas station to flag down a Good Samaritan to call 911 as McGee took off.

First dates are tough. I mean they’re exciting and everything, but you just met the other person so you don’t know what works yet. You have to tiptoe around certain things before you both get comfortable. Like you’re not sure if they have the same sense of humor as you. Not sure if you and her like the same food or have the same political views. No idea how she’ll respond to an armed carjacking in a Wendy’s parking lot. It’s a very delicate dance you have to do to find out who the other person really is. So like in this situation, we can see that he hit a homerun with the walk on the beach, but that she wasn’t too amped when he pulled out a gun and stole her car. But that’s the info you can use for next time. Walk on beach = good. Firearm and grand theft auto = bad.
