Not exactly how you draw it up on the blackboard.   Don’t get me wrong the idea was sound.    Just streak the fuck out of a random doubles tennis match, but the execution was lacking.   He just didn’t account for the glass wall.   All the hours of preparation and game film right down the drain.   Oh well.  It’s true what they say.  The best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry.  Only thing you can do is get back up try it again a different day.
