Europe Rules Anyone Who Gets Sick On Vacation Is Allowed To Re-Take It
BRUSSELS — For most Europeans, almost nothing is more prized than their four to six weeks of guaranteed annual vacation leave. But it was not clear just how sacrosanct that time off was until Thursday, when Europe’s highest court ruled that workers who happened to get sick on vacation were legally entitled to take another vacation.“The purpose of entitlement to paid annual leave is to enable the worker to rest and enjoy a period of relaxation and leisure,” the Court of Justice of the European Union, based in Luxembourg, ruled in a case involving department store workers in Spain. “The purpose of entitlement to sick leave is different, since it enables a worker to recover from an illness that has caused him to be unfit for work.”
First of all I assume you need a Doctor’s note to prove you were sick? But that’s really neither here nor there. If you’re part of 99% this has to be the best law of all time. Like when I was a working stiff riding the Green Line from Cleveland Circle to St James everyday I would have been 100% behind this legislation. I’m sure all my slacker employes thing this is the best thing ever. Probably all you peon readers too. If you get sick during your vacation you get to retake it. But I’m part of the 1% now. I’m the boss. Hey maybe if these Euros weren’t so worried about time off their entire economy wouldn’t be in the gutter. Ever think of that? Bottome line is I don’t even think I should have to give my employees any vacation time never-mind re-give it to them because they got sick. It’s not my fault Sales Guy goes out 9 days a week and doesn’t get enough sleep. You don’t like it? I’ll find something else who doesn’t cry about going on the road and partying with sluts. But don’t give me this retaking vacation shit. Be lucky you have job. How about that?

This is nothing new to union employees here in the U.S. Lazy shitbags who want to get paid $100K, cadillac benefits, pension, and lifetime job security all for doing menial work 3 hours out of an 8 hour work day. Of course they also need 4 weeks vacation and 15 sick days per year. When the country, state, or city goes broke, no worries. Just elect liberals who promise to increase taxes on those who actually work for a living. I’ve got more respect for homeless people than public union employees.

^^JBD I’ll give you the fact that union workers for public unions take full advantage but i worked in a private union for 10 years, local 17 Boston. I got 1 week a year vacation unpaid and if i took a sick day it was as if i commited murder and if i didn’t pull my weight i would get laid off in an instant.

As a result, the cost of living in Europe is vastly more expensive than here and… don’t even get me started on fucking China, bro.
