MARIETTATeachers across Georgia may legally engage in sexual relationships with students 16 or older if the sex is consensual. That is what the state Supreme Court held last summer when it ruled, 5-2, in Chase v. The State, a case out of Richmond County. The decision has immediate effects in Cobb County, where at least two former high school teachers are charged with sexual assaults of students older than 16. At issue is Georgia law 16-6-5.1, which defines sexual assault against persons in custody… Christopher King… 36, was arrested in May and accused of having sex with a 17-year-old female student. King had taught English and journalism since 2004. The student in that case has testified that the relationship was consensual… to the father of the student in the Christopher King case, it’s not enough. “It is a crime if he is not asked to answer for what he did,” said the father, who is not being named to protect the identity of his daughter. “It is indescribably painful to see something like this happen to your daughter. It has totally influenced her teenage years, and it has devastated my family.” The Chase decision, he said, “means that parents no longer have the security of knowing they can send their children to school without a teacher preying on them.”

I’m guessing most of you had the same reaction to this story I did. All this time it’s been illegal for teachers to bang their students? What the hell is it going to be like now that it’s decriminalized? Classrooms throughout the great state of Georgia are gonna look like the Elvis Suite at the Playboy Mansion. I mean, teachers from Atlanta to the Okefenokee must be popping champagne, handing out rufies like they were Altoids and instituting “A’s for Ass” programs. It’s got to be like Christmas Day for depraved, sex-crazed teachers, except they don’t want school to be closed. Sure Christopher King’s “victim’s” dad doesn’t like it. And I’m sure he’s not thrilled that he pays a guys to teach his daughter algebra and she comes home with an advanced degree in head, and I can sympathize with him. As a matter of fact, the Georgia lawmakers ought to just do the right thing and outlaw male teachers seducing female students and let nature take its course when it comes to female teachers on males. Because there’s if there’s one basic fundamental principle that’s made this country great, it’s the Double Standard.  God bless America!
