Here’s A Shocker….The Pats Are Favored To Win the 2014 Superbowl
I know Jerry and I get accused of beating a dead horse around here. That we say the same thing about the Pats every year for the past decade. That win or lose we’re lucky to call ourselves Patriots fans. That it doesn’t matter who wins the superbowl we’re always going to be the team that everybody circles on their calendar. The team that keeps people awake at night. Well the facts are it’s true. Yeah I know we haven’t won it all now in 8 long hard years. I know it feels like an eternity. But the bottomline is this. In an era where parity is king and the NFL strives for equality the Pats have been to 5 superbowls in 12 years, 7 AFC title games and have won 10 division titles. Before every season begins we know we already can pencil ourselves in for the AFC title game at the very least. We know that if we don’t win it all than the entire season is viewed as a gigantic waste of time. We know that every year when the season starts anew we are going to be the favorites to win the Superbowl. It’s been that way for a decade now and as long as Brady and Belichick roam our sidelines it will remain that way. Does it suck we lost? Of course it does. Would I trade places with Ravens fans today? Not in a billion years.

You can spell parity without Patriots, that’s why…
FUCK B MORE, joe flacco is an elite QB bahahah, trent dilfer 2.0 boys
and oh yeah ELPRES wants to suck gronk’s man juice
Proud to be a Pats fan.
What a surprise, since they get to play the Jets, Dolphins, and Bills twice a year.
I didn’t even bother watching the Super Bowl this year. I got hammered and masturbated and re-watched the Pats-Rams one. When Vinatieri kicked the FG I came in my pants and I wasn’t even wearing any
I heard all day yesterday that Denver and SF were the co-favorites, so I don’t know which one is actually accurate.
one more SB win………that’s all i want/need.
3 players and a healthy Gronk away from another undefeated run. Keep Talib, another good DB, and a 6’4 outside receiver who doesn’t fall down immediately after catching the ball and the team will be unstoppable.
Jambalaya!
It’s going to be like the Middle Ages after Brady and Belichick leave (which is probably less than five years from now), so we have to go full-tilt, fan-crazy now. That’s something Pats haters don’t get about us Pats fans.
Prez, you can beat off any horse you want to, but stop making predictions on big games. You fucking suck at that.
Playing in the afc east they get fronted 6 wins a year so not that surprising. Must be nice playing a 10 game schedule
I heard the odds for SB favorites were 5/1 on both Niners and Broncos. As a Pats fan I’d love to buy into this, but its going on 10 years bro. We may be in another 3 or 4 AFC Championships/Super Bowls, and it pains me to say this, but Brady is never winning another ring. Curse of Bridget Moynahan and the pulled-goalie.
Niners fine but how could the Broncos possibly be favorites? Did anyone see what happened to them this year? And the fact that the Super Bowl is outside should make the odds 100/1 that Peyton wins one next year.
Well said, Dave.
going into this past season: Packers 6/1, Pats 7/1, Saints 8/1, Texans/Eagles/Steelers 12/1
how did those odds work out for everyone?
What are the odds on a Manning Bowl.
I could imagine the bitching blogs now
Here’s a shocker. Pats lose in the 2nd round of the playoffs or AFC championship game again next year.
I can’t wait until Brady retires and you and Jerry kill yourselves and KFC takes over as head honcho around here.
Have the odds makers ever been right with early predictions? I’m guessing it’s probably not a good thing to be the favorite 8 months before the season starts, but live it up Pats, it’s almost the same as actually winning the SB
@meowmix, believe those who put millions on these odds, not the clowns on ESPN who get paid to make bullshit predictions they never have to be held accountable for.
Love the 5 SB in 12 years. That number just keeps getting worse and worse.
@rbudddwyer 49ers were also 7/1, as they are for next year, and they were only a pass interference call away from victory (even though no call was the right decision).
Actually, olson, that number improves with every one they go to…
If the Pats win 12 or 13 games next year with their schedule will you guys retire your AFC East argument?
Everyone loves to point out how the Pats get to play the Jets Bills and Dolphins twice a year as if thats the only division that is the only easy division. How about the AFC West? Broncos get KC, Oakland and the San Diego worsters in their division… um yea… real competitive there. And where are all of Denver’s AFC championship appearances?
If the Ravens or Steelers played in the AFC East instead of the AFC North, they would win the division every year and get a top-two seed just like the Patriots do. The Patriots have an incredible ability to beat up on lousy teams, but they haven’t been any better than the Ravens, Steelers, Packers, or Giants over the past five years when it comes to beating other good teams. The Patriots are both very good and very soft. Sorry bro.
Pats all the way next year. At least this year we didn’t have to play after Alicia keys disgraced America!! http://aidanfromworcester.com/2013/02/05/7-reasons-i-hate-alicia-keys-did-ray-lewis-kill-the-lights-my-boy-larry-the-guru/
Check it out and cast your vote.
SF was not 7/1 on 2/6/12. the first odds that came out had SF at 16/1 and Baltimore at 14/1. opening odds mean NOTHING.
The Vegas odd are designed to separate dopes from their money. They pump up the Pats to get massholes to bet big on the Pats to win it all, then cash in when they fail in the playoffs. That is why they always set the Pat spread high – cash in fake tough guy bros. I made a ton on the Ravens getting 9 in the AFC championship game. It was easy pickings find local morons to give me the points.
@hardwhite: yea, and the broncos are a heavy favorite to win it too. With Peyton they’re a 10 win team, in the AFC Worst, 13 wins.
Hey Pres….wild prediction here….the Patriots will make the playoffs, won’t win the Superbowl, and we’ll have to read the same insane ramblings from you again next here.
i would ask if you understand how gambling odds work, but i think that answer is apparent by your “Mortal Locks”…. joebidenjr is spot on with what he said.
“We know that if we don’t win it all than the entire season is viewed as a gigantic waste of time.” …….well, not for real fans
That is not a shocker. Line is totally due to the annual parade of “Tomato Cans” in their division that will always favor them for home field throughout the playoffs and a bye so all you need is to win a couple tough games and you’re back in the dance and no other team can say that. Pats are currently somewhere in the top 5-10 teams in the NFL but without a Welker plus a few predictably bad draft choices it may be hard to see a move to the top 5. In fact they may fall out of the top 10 but again, their division makes them a favorite at least as far as statistically speaking for betting.
i think you guys have been favored preseason 5 times since 2005. really did a lot for you guys. you do realize that we don’t envy your team that hasn’t won anything significant since Bush’s first term, right?
It’s a good thing the Patriots don’t lose all the time when their big favorites.
where are the raiders? They’re a mortal lock to win
And the pats win in giants stadium and the evil genius plan comes full fold!
Fuck you pres
Baltimore knocks out NE again next year. Newsflash Ray Lewis doesn’t do anything.
i’ll say it again, how can you say all these things about being a patriots fan and then rip on yankees fans. literally the same philosophy except its for loser boston people. and the pats are pussies because the last 2 years they have also had the easiest schedule in the nfl (thats a fact, not me being a dick). would’ve loved to see this years pats team with the giants schedule. easy 9-7 at best
Newsflash people the entire AFC fucking sucks. People hate on the afc east when the afc west has consistently been the worst division and the AFC south is also a joke. As for the “mighty” nfc east, the Pats are 7-1 in their last 8 regular season games against them. The fucking giants won the division with 9 games last year and all the skins had to this year was beat the fucking cowboys to get in. The last time an nfc east team not named the giants made the nfc title game was 2009. The last time an afc east team not named the Pats to make the afc title game was the jets in 2011. But ya lets keep using the afc east excuse
In an obsession where you talk shit about people like Peyton Manning, Jets, and LeBron crowning themselves the paper champions before the season start, you go and write bullshit like this. As if being crowned a favorite to win the Super Bowl is any kind of reward
And yet they don’t stand a chance against the Giants in big games
You say five superbowls but i know you just misspelled 5
Please Pats make the Super Bowl so the Niners can have a guaranteed win.
sportscenter is showing denver and san francisco at 5/1. pats still 7/1
Septicbutt, they’re huge favorites EVERY game, of course they will lose once in a while as favorites. No team wins every game. The 49ers lost in the playoffs with Joe Montana plenty of times, as did the Cowboys with Aikman, but because they never lost in the Super Bowl people seem to believe that’s more impressive than the Patriots making 5 Super Bowls in this run. The point of this blog is that the Patriots ALWAYS have a punchers chance at winning the Super Bowl, and as much as people like to believe otherwise, it always comes down to a few strokes of luck here and there that they just haven’t had go their way since January ’05. Every Super Bowl champ, and professional sports champ for that matter, has those go their way. Being the favorite means that taking luck out of it, they are the best team.
