Tonight the Sox fired the first warning shot of the playoffs across the Angels’ bow, and it was dropped from the old Japanese dive bomber himself.  This was classic Dice K, just the way we like him.  Nibbling, missing the strike zone, deep counts.  He threw 93 pitches in 6 innings, barely half of those for strikes.  He went 0-2 on the first batter of the game then walked him and stranded him… exactly the way Tito and John Farrell drew it up.  The kind of performance that drives opposing batters insane but we’ve come to know and love.  Plus Matsuzaka looked lean, mean, tanned, rested and ready for October.  Beckett, Lester, Buchholz and now a resurgent Dice-K?  The Angels might tank the rest of the season just to save themselves from getting humiliated yet again.
