I Don’t Get the Whole Love Affair with Chad Ochocinco
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – It might not flow off the lips as freely as it does for Bengals receiver Chad Ochocinco, but Bill Belichick showed Wednesday that he can have a little football fun as well. Belichick was asked about his connection with Ochocinco… “It’s an odd couple,” Belichick said, drawing some laughter from media members. “But in the end, I think we have a lot of things in common. “I like Chad. I like him as a player, I like him as a person. I like his enthusiasm and the fun he has in football, and how he competes on the football field.” Belichick was then asked if he follows Ochocinco on Twitter. “I don’t do Twitter, My Face, or any of that stuff,” Belichick said.
Far be it for me to disagree with Bill Belichick on anything. I mean, we like the same kind of football, we both like Sam Adams, we both like big-breasted blonde cougars. But for the life of me I don’t get this love affair the nation has with Chad 85. I don’t mean to suggest I hate the guy. I don’t. He’s a good, not great, receiver. He’s not some loathsome dickhead like Terrell Owens or Braylon Edwards or Brandon Marshall. It’s just that the guy gets waaay too much credit for his alleged charm and his supposed terrific sense of humor and purported hilarious hijinks. Consider what he said in his Twitter conversation with Patriots Darius Butler and Devin McCourty:

And for that comedy gold he has 1.2 million subscribers. On DWTS last season he was duller even than Kate Gosselin. I listened to his media conference call today waiting for some better material and he didn’t say one thing that was funny or even memorable. Again, I don’t think he’s an awful guy. I just don’t think he’s ever said or done anything that actually made me laugh. Think about it. What was his funniest moment ever? Putting a Hall of Fame jacket on himself? Holding up a “Please don’t fine me again” sign? Dyeing his hair? Those aren’t funny. They’re prop comedy. The people who really find Chad Johnson hilarious are the same ones who buy Gallagher tickets and try to sit down front so they can get watermelon squishin’s on themselves. I get what Belichick sees in the guy as a ballplayer. But his own line about “MyFace” was 100 times funnier than anything that’s ever come out of Ochocinco.
I think he’s a closet ‘mo or just a depressed dink that needs constant attention to feel better but yeah he’s not funny or entertaining to anyone with half a fucking brain. Louis CK, he’s funny. 85? Fag

I’m just psyched that they’ll be playing real NFL football on Sunday. I could care less about any of the antics of these talented goofballs.
I’m sorry but would you rather have the same boring players who say the same crap about teamwork, and winning, and blah blah you hear on ESPN? At least he speaks his mind, and doesn’t sound like a drone like 95 percent of the other people in the NFL, MLB, NHL, NBA. I don’t think he is some comic genius, but dude makes me laugh, and seems like a genuine like able guy.
I don’t care one way or the other about your opinion of his sense of humor, but calling him a good, not great receiver is flat wrong.
From his second season in the NFL through his 7th he had over 1,100 yards receiving and at least five touchdowns. Three of those seasons he led the AFC in receiving yardage. Overall he’s had more than 1,100 yards receiving in seven of his nine years in the league. Saying he’s a good not great receiver in the period he has played is wrong. Name me five other active receivers that have put up those numbers that consistently.
