Wake on First All Star Game – “I Would Have Rather Gone Hunting”
What’s that old expression? Good things come to those who wait. Well Tim Wakefield waited 18 long years to make his first allstar game appearance tonight and he made the most it when finally given the opportunity. Oh wait a minute. Nevermind. Kind of got ahead of myself there. Dude didn’t even get in the game. Shit. He could have been hunting the last couple days instead of riding the pine like a scrub. Yeah I know that if you bet the American League he’s probably the last guy you’d want to see on the mound, but give me a break. He waited 18 years for this. Throw him a fucking bone and at least let him get in the box score. Because I don’t care what Wake says and I don’t care that Joe Madden picked him for the team. It’s just not right that the guy who wanted to make this team the most didn’t even get a sniff.
Maddon is a fucking cocksucker. I understand this new tendency to put in closers. It’s the smart way to go but Maddon should have put in Wake over Papelbon. Wake doesn’t need the rest like the others and it would have made for great TV to have a knuckleballer in there with a new catcher.

Die hard red sox fan here and i DESPISE joe maddon because i think he’s a fucking old prick, but I didn’t want to see Wake out there last night over those closers (Pap, Nathan, Rivera). If that game had gone into xtra innings however they might have needed 2 or 3 innings out of him. I just think with him having to face an all-star lineup if they got to him it could have been trouble for the AL, just too risky.
Hey, it’s never easy being a novelty act. Wake knows it and told everyone he could care less if he made it into the game. Just relax.

I think Wake not getting in convinced me that MLB has to stop this shit with the All-Star game determining home field advantage in the WS. Let the best record determine it. Even if it’s some weak ass NL team playing in some weak ass division. It will just mean they really have no advantage. I’d have rather seen Wake play & who the fuck cares who wins.
