So this topic has been bubbling under the surface last couple days. I’ve been hearing some grumblings that somehow I’m an idiot for getting filets at a steak house. That only a pussy does’t get the Bone In Filet. Well let me say this loud and clear. The bone in filet is not only the most over rated steak in the world, but it’s the most over rated thing in the world. Don’t get me wrong I like the Bone In Filet. I wouldn’t refuse it if somebody served it to me. But I’m sick of every single waiter and waitress in the world ranting and raving about how awesome it is. How if I’m gonna order the filet I have to get the Bone In Filet. More taste, it will suck my dick blah, blah, blah.
For the first 100 times I fell for it like a fool. Like if anybody is this adamant about anything on the menu I’ll trust em. Then a couple years ago I said enough is enough. I’m sticking to my guns. Give me the filet like I asked for. Medium and delicious. I haven’t looked back since. The filet’s texture is about a billion times better than the bone in which has a shit ton of fat. Bottomline is I’ll take the straight filet everyday of the week and twice on Sunday. If that’s wrong I don’t want to be right. Frankly I think people who get Bone In Filet are suckers who get easily peer pressured. There is just no other way to explain how somebody could prefer it. It’s time to take back the Filet and I’m just the man to do it.

bone-in filet is obviously on the bone, so closer to the NY strip. (think the piece of filet that comes on a T-Bone/porterhouse). so technically, the straight filet is going to be more centered to the true middle of the filet. it might be a small distinction, but the quality is slightly better.

I’ve worked in Steak houses. If you order well done it means to the grill cook I don’t give a fuck about your steak. If you order Med rare it means I better get it right.The tenderloin has no marbling in it. No fat = no flavor. Any steak on the bone has more flavor and cooks nicer. The bone is flavor and helps keep it moist. Thats why porterhouse steaks are tits.

I’m taken aback by all the hatred directed at the filet. First off, I like all cuts of meat and everybody has their preference. I always get the filet at a nice steakhouse because it comes out perfect every time and I don’t like to have to do alot of work when I’m out at a nice restaurant (cutting off fat, trimming around the bone, etc.). When I’m cooking at home I usually go with strips, ribeyes, or T-bones because they’re cheaper and easier to cook. And the people who hate filet but love porterhouse, you are unbelievably retarded. Temperature varies from each steakhouse. Tell waitor you want it cooked exactly how chef would eat it and it will be perfect every time. You’re welcome!
