In Light of the School Shooting We’re Calling It For Today
So I got a bunch of blogs already written in the pipeline for today, but they just don’t feel right. The snarky comments which would surely be below them don’t feel right. I’m sure people are going to say days like today are when people need idiotic blogs like the Stool , but I’m just going with my gut. It doesn’t feel right for what we do. Not on the day of one of the biggest shootings in American history which happened right down the road. So we’re closing up shop early. Again thoughts and prayers from all Stoolies go out to Newtown, CT.

I’m a 35yr old father of 2 little kids (4 and soon to be 2) and haven’t been this heartbroken in years. Sadly, most of the sites I’ve gone to for news on this subject have been blasted with crazy ass politically charged comments from the left and the right. Even though I check the site literally hundreds of times per day looking for a nice rack or a cheap laugh, today’s not the day. Begs the obvious question – why’d I come here then on a day like this? To see how The Stool would respond to this day. Just confirms what I’ve felt all along – Stoolies are the best and there can be only one el Pres.

Just broke down. Not a pussy or anything, but I have 3 kids all under 8. They don’t go to that school, I don’t even live in that town. I don’t even know anyone that lives in that town. But this incident definitely hits close to home. How can anyone not feel a pit in their stomach after learning about such a horrific and senseless tragedy ? These are kids. Innocent kids. They didn’t deserve this. They didn’t cut someone off in traffic and flip them the bird on their way to school. They didn’t insult someone’s mother. These kids were executed and I feel like crying again. Take a look at the faces on the survivors as they are lead through the parking lot away from the horror. Crying again… I can’t wait to get home and hug my kids.

Whoever made the comment about that kid in the theater in Colorado was right on. No names, no pictures, no stories about their life and how they were raised, what music they listened to where they got guns from, who their parents were, what they wrote on twitter, nothing. Catch them, prove it was them and cut their head off. We have lost something in society where we now give criminals rights and allow the media to “glorify” their actions. You hurt children you are lower than an animal, you should be locked in a dungeon and you deserve to a die very terrible death. Of course CNN and all the stations will interview kids and have everyone watching crying and scared to let their kids go to school to boost ratings. I’m not going to lose a second of sleep tonight because something happened today that will inevitably happen again next year, and then a month after that, and then another month after that, and so on. Haven’t people become desensitized to this shit yet? This country (and world) is fucked up. The sooner you come to that realization, the easier shit like this is to accept. The respect human beings have towards each other is becoming less and less. And unfortunately, it’s not going to ever revert back. I hope somebody out there can create a time machine to get me the fuck out of here. I’d rather live in a time where life expectancy was 50 years old, and living to your teens was 50/50 at best, rather than live in this modern shithole.
Before today I honestly don’t remember the last time I cried. 9/11 was so overwhelming I didn’t even feel like I could cry. I just kind of stared at my television in horrified disbelief for days on end. Today I cried on my drive home from work listening to the news. Hard. All I can think about are those parents. As a father of four I honestly can’t even imagine, not for one tiny second, what they are going through right now. Dave you did the right thing today and I applaud you for following your gut on this one. This is so heinous it’s hard to even put it into perspective. I hope there is something we as a country can do to help those parents in any way possible. From what I’m seeing here, the response will be overwhelming.

The founders of this nation believed that if citizens had the right to own a fire arm they would be powerful enough to over throw the Gov if it ever became oppressive. You have to think back in their day they had 1 shot muskets that could hit the broadside of a barn 50 yards away. The US didn’t have the army we had today so it would be necessary to form militias if someone invaded. There were no fully automatic killing machines precise to 500 yards. I like the idea of a hand gun for protection or hunting rifle. I’m fine with bullet proof vests whoever said to ban those is retard. I believe that in today’s society that the Internet is more powerful tool to over throw a tyrant than a machine pistol. We should have the right to the Internet in the constitution because government shouldn’t be allowed to sensor stuff. How would we know we are being censored? This tragedy is a National nightmare and in some ways worse than the war started on September 11th. The reason I say his is not based on a body count or national treasure expended in two terrible conflicts. It is easier to look at some outside force and crush it with all of our collective might and feel good about it as Americans do. This tragedy is more insidious, because Adam Lanza is a monster created by a country that is loosing its way. Our sense of right and wrong has become so infected by a culture where everything is ok, and traditional values are laughed at or are being destroyed by a new ideology that worships self indulgence and entitlement. This type of tragedy was unheard of in this country 30 years ago and it’s time to take a hard look at what has changed, for the worse. It’s not the guns, they have been with us since the Mayflower settlers stepped off the boat. It’s something else, and it’s time to stop it.

Goody, of course there was mass murder prior to 1980, the point I’m trying to make is that is happening much more frequently with more devastating results. There is something that has significantly changed culturally in this country in the last 30 or so years. The first major school massacre in US occurred in 1927, then 37 years later in 64,66. Then the massacres pick up the 80′s and almost every year in the 90′s till today, this is very alarming. I don’t know what it is for sure but it needs to be found before more children die.

I think that it is time to have an armed policeman at every school all day, and yes I know it would cost a lot of tax payers money, but there is no price tag on possibly preventing an act like this. Its a fucked up world, and I guess you really do have to live everyday like it may be your last, and for 27 people the other day it was their last, and for the victims families it probably feels like their lives ended too the other day.
