Iowa High School Wrestler Forfeits Match Rather Than Wrestle A Girl
DES MOINES, Iowa — An Iowa high school wrestler who was one of the favorites to win his weight class defaulted on his first-round state tournament match rather than face one of the first girls to ever qualify for the event. Joel Northup, a home-schooled sophomore who was 35-4 wrestling for Linn-Mar High this season, said in a statement that he doesn’t feel it would be right for him to wrestle Cedar Falls freshman Cassy Herkelman. Herkelman, who was 20-13 entering the tournament, and fellow 112-pounder Ottumwa sophomore Megan Black, who was 25-13, made history by being the first girls to qualify for the state tournament. Black was pinned quickly in her opening round match. “I have a tremendous amount of respect for Cassy and Megan and their accomplishments. However, wrestling is a combat sport and it can get violent at times,” wrote Northup. “As a matter of conscience and my faith I do not believe that it is appropriate for a boy to engage a girl in this manner. It is unfortunate that I have been placed in a situation not seen in most other high school sports in Iowa. Wrestling is hugely popular in Iowa, and this is the first time girls have qualified for the state tournament, which began in 1926.
Typical home schooled freakshow nutbag. Seriously has there ever been a normal home schooled person in the history of earth? I doubt it. Kid probably doesn’t even realize they already covered this very topic on Saved By the Bell. Bottom line is chicks have the right to play men’s sports if they are good enough. This girl won her way into the tournament fair and square just like if she had a 90mph fastball she’d play varsity baseball. No difference. So cut the shit with your faith mumbo jumbo and butt drag the fuck out her. That’s what I’d do.
I’m with the kid on this one, if you ask me it was a nice way of him being like “Sorry, a woman’s place is in the kitchen, now scurry on back to the kitchen and return with a sandwich while the men take care of business, toots.”
Better to forfeit a match with a girl than to pop a chubby inside your singlet in front of the whole State of Iowa.
Random Thoughts while I avoid work….
1. Don’t blame the kid… you can’t win in this situation. You beat the girl, big deal you beat a girl. You lose to the girl, you’re the loser who lost to a girl.
2. Home schooled? Just wrestle the chick and sneak in some sanctioning groping. Home schooled kids ain’t getting much action anyway.
3. Ever notice on Saved By Bell, those gang of idiots were in EVERY Activity. Lisa Turtle was the hottest of the bunch, but black girls get no love.
4. Mario Lopez is one of the few only dudes in history who could pull off the mullet perm and still bang playmates

This is one of the reasons it would suck be to small and scrawny in HS. This kid weighs 112 pounds. Prolly the average weight of every high school’s cheerleading squad.
In HS I wrestled 160, 171 and 189 lbs over the four years. I truly felt bad for the kids (midgets) who wrestled 103, 112 and 119 because this is a possibility. And wrestling a chick is a lose-lose situation no matter what. If you win, it was a chick, you’re supposed to win. If you lose, you suck at life because you just lost to a chick in a manly sport. It’s not the same as losing to a chick in tennis, but literally getting out-muscled and out fought by a chick? Gotta suck! (PS Chicks suck at soccer, basketball and baseball/softball so there’s no competition there)
One of my teammates beat a chick who actually looked pretty good at 103 and we gave him shit because he wouldn’t admit he had a boner during part of it. Not a big deal, but still a distraction. Another teammate who had to wrestle a chick, picked her up and slammed her legally, but because she is a chick she cried, he was DQ’ed. (So he lost by being “too rough”)
I imagine youth goalies who get scored on by chicks feel the same way, totally emasculated and this really teaches you to grow fast, work out and eat everything you can so you can’t possibly weigh the same as a chick in HS.
What a pussy. He’s obviously afraid to lose to a girl. I’d be grabbing her tits and pussy the whole match, I don’t care what she looks like. You’re in a sport where usually you have a guy’s ass and balls in your face. Now you get a chance to have a clam in your mug (granted a sweaty one) and you turn it down?

Kids down the street from me were home schooled. Totally Jesus-fied, and were just kind of weird. They never seemed to fit in, and it wouldn’t surprise me if the brother and sister were fucking one another. But I digress.
Kid should have wrestled this chick, and totally tried to probe her vaginally, or if he was lucky, anally, while they were all twisted up like pretzels on the mat.

As a competitor, I can’t understand this at all. I can’t believe this kid would give up a chance to win the state title! That’s just insanity. You can’t control who you have to face in any sport. Your goal should be to beat whoever you’re up against.
Beat the girl in 30 seconds, be happy that you basically got a first round bye, and move onto the next match.

I wrestled and had the opposite dilemma back in the 80s. There was a girl that wrestled my weight-class and I couldn’t wait to wrestle her. I was preparing myself to put her in every pin position possible then before the ref could slap the mat, I’d let her up and humiliate her all over again. Never got the chance though. Apparently her coach only let her wrestle the shitty varsity wrestlers.
