Jacoby Ellsbury Is The Best Athlete In the History of Baseball According To Nike
Nesn - Jacoby Ellsbury is one of the game’s most gifted athletes. For baseball fans unable to witness Ellsbury’s skills on a nightly basis, the 26-year-old left fielder put his freakish talents on display in a recent Nike shoot. Ellsbury posted a 38.5-inch vertical leap, which was the exact same height that Gators quarterback Tim Tebow posted at last week’s NFL combine. That result would have placed him in a tie for fourth place among running backs as well. Perhaps his most impressive feat was his 3.94 “5-10-5″ agility shuttle, also referred to as the 20-yard shuttle. This shuttle time would have topped the list at last weekend’s NFL combine, besting cornerback A.J. Jefferson’s top time of 4.00 seconds flat. Ellsbury also ran a 3.56 30-yard dash, and notched a 65-foot powerball throw.
Well what can you say about this? I mean facts are facts. Jacoby Ellsbury is the best athlete in the history of baseball and a sure fire Hall of Famer. You can’t argue the Sparq test. Because just like with the NFL combine this proves that Ellsbury can do everything except hit a baseball and actually play the game. But that shit is secondary to agility drills.

i’ll take a healthy beltran
Freak athlete, not doubt. Not-so-freaky with a glove or bat in his hand. I wish his eyes would grade out near the top of the combine chart so he’d take a few more walks and put those freaky legs to work on the bases.
Sign him to the Pats..
The test already showed what we all knew. Just sign him long term.
It would be great to see him make the jump to dominant leadoff man. He’s tops in the fantasy geek world but it would be great to see him become a game changer.
what’s up with the hate EP?
He would’ve given Columbus hell.
Yet he still can’t beat out a 37 year old to play center field.
It’s nothing against Ellsbury. I just think those type of tests/combine has almost nothing to do with how you play your sport
I think we are being a little harsh on a guy who batted .301 with 70 stolen bases last season. Personally I think that he is a decent CF as well. Please don’t shoot me off the latest range-O-meter statistic that says Cameron is the best baseball player ever according to baseball prospectus. He is the most exciting player we have on a boring team with no power right now. At least he can steal bases to make up for his lack of power.
Can he have a better OBP? Yes.
this blog has zero to do with ellsbury. I just hate tests
ep – agreed. tell that to law schools about my lsats.
thanks
the blog has zero to do with ellsbury .. except for the title, video and premise
agree with you EP, but you could have gone the Que the Duckboats theme instead.
no worries
nbrdogg10 – I don’t thing you need the latest range-0-meter stat to show you that Ellsbury is overrated defensively. How bout the fact he can’t play over a 37-year-old. That should tell you what you need to know.
Boring team? What are you a chick? Who cares how boring they are when they win 95 games again because they have the best pitching in baseball.
I think ellsbury is solid and will continue to get better which is y I don’t want to see him leave boston….but I gota agree with the premise of this blog: theres nothing more useless than a combine at any level of sports, high school straight thru the pros. Congrats on being able to run fast and jump high in a controlled setting while wearin shorts and a t-shirt…ill be infinitely more impressed when he develops into the kind of dominating lead off man who consistently beats the throw to first on short and deep infield grounders and also stretches would-be singles into doubles than I am with his ability to make quick cuts around 3 cones
“best sparq rating EVER in baseball” because nobody in baseball does that bullshit.
tixlist…hes nasty in the field
To all you morons saying he “can’t beat out a 37 year old in CF”…
This is from Peter Gammons, “I remember in ’84 or ’85, when the Yankees got Rickey Henderson in a trade with the A’s, I was doing a story on him in beautiful downtown Winter Haven. He said to me, ‘The beating you take when you steal 70 to 100 bases a year is incredible.’ Now, with Rickey, he went into the bag so hard, head first, he was beating up his hands and legs. He said, ‘It’s really hard to play centerfield and run 100 times a year.’ Barry Bonds has told me the same thing. That’s why he wasn’t playing centerfield in Pittsburgh. He was playing left field.”
Red Sox brass wanted Jack in LF…Big difference!
Nice he can jump high…how high do you think Pujols can jump?
worst camera work, you cant even tell what the fuck hes doing. great power hitting left fielder though, o.. wait.
Internet Cowboy – so you think the Sox would prefer someone with healthy legs, just so he could steal more bases, instead of a superior defender in centerfield?
How bout this…he has the tools to be a successful CF longterm but right now he’s not better defensively than Cameron, which is why he’s playing LF. Maybe in a year or two he can move back to CF.
I have a teenage kid like that… runs faster than everyone by a mile, jumps higher, lifts more, more agile, great in practice…. then you watch him play a game you scratch your head.
Now that’s a freak of nature.
What the fuck is a 30yard dash? What happened to the 40?
30yard dash is the one done in high heels.
