Hollywood Reporter - The deal is done to bring back “Jersey Shore” for a second season. MTV plans to bring back the show for mid-to-late summer for 12 new episodes, which means commencing production soon. The network will take the cast to another location, as yet unannounced, for season two rather than shoot in New Jersey during the winter. “Our audience has fallen in love with ‘Jersey Shore’ and its amazing cast who have really grown together as a family. That bond gives the show its heart, and we’re thrilled to reunite these friends to bring fans more of what they love — laughs, love, drama and of course, GTL,” said Tony DiSanto, president of programming for MTV.

Despite the fact that Pauly D and I are boys now I was still firmly against MTV bringing back the same cast for season II. It just seemed stupid. I thought they should bring in a new batch of guidos to keep it fresh. I mean who wants to watch more of JWoww, Ronnie, Sammie and Vinnie? And now we find out that Jersey Shore II won’t even take place at the Jersey Shore. Instead it’s going to be like some wacky Dr. Zimbardo psych experiment where you just drop a bunch of guidos on some unsuspecting community and see what happens. Listen I admit that this just may be crazy enough to work and I’m definitely going to watch it, but the point remains that I think MTV is fucking up a simple formula. Stick 8 new guidos in a Jersey Shore House every summer and I’ll watch every time. No need to reinvent the wheel here. Not to mention the fact that everybody in the country knows who these people are now. I mean Snooki, Pauly D and the Situation are legit celebrities. So I’m afraid this will just feel like The Simple Life rather than the Jersey Shore we all know and love.
