LaDainian Tomlinson Retires
ESPN – The LaDainian Tomlinson problem has been resolved. Kudos to all involved for making it right… Tomlinson will sign a contract with the Chargers on Monday and immediately retire. A news conference will be held at the team’s facility to celebrate his tremendous career. In 2017, Tomlinson will shuffle into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on the first ballot and he will be remembered solely as a San Diego Charger… He doesn’t belong anywhere else. This is the guy who helped turn around a lost franchise when he was drafted in the first round in 2001. This is a guy who made the Chargers must-watch action, especially when he dominated the NFL in 2006, setting an NFL record with 28 rushing touchdowns. Aside from his sublime running abilities, one of Tomlinson’s greatest assets is his fast smile. Expect plenty of grins Monday when a special reconciliation occurs in San Diego.
I couldn’t agree more. Kudos to all involved for making this happen. The biggest fraud of his generation is retiring as a member of the most smug, self-satisfied, underachieving team of its era. The guy who spent his career being the perfect Fantasy player but who folded when it counted retires with the franchise that puts up huge numbers every year but has never won a damned thing. It’s perfect. Of course there’ll be the usual fawning from the national press today as they fall all over themselves to remind us about how classy LT is. That it wasn’t all just about his sublime running abilities or his fast smile; it was also about how classically classy his classiness was. Something that Tomlinson himself liked to remind us of when he wasn’t delighting in Shawne Merriman’s stupid sack dance, whining about the Patriots, ripping Bill Belichick, throwing a hissy fit when he left San Diego, calling out his Jets teammates on his way out the door or pouting on the bench in the 2007 AFCCG after coming through in the clutch with 5 big yards on 2 carries. Aside from those and hundreds of moments like them, Tomlinson was as classy as they come. It’s like Ralph Waldo Emerson once said “The louder he talked of his honor, the faster we counted the spoons.” And now LT will get into the Hall of Fame on the first ballot, and be talked about like he was St. Thomas Aquinas. Pres should find a new Philly writer and have Maurice be the lead writer for a fifth site that takes a more serious approach (while also being witty and funny sometimes) to analyzing sports and maybe current events/news/politics, and stays away from the smut. Pres is a half-decent smut blogger and KFC is a god of smut blogging, but Maurice is a good writer and intelligent person who just isn’t cut out for writing about people masturbating with teddy bears. He has interesting, intelligent shit to say and actually gets sports (unlike some people *cough* everyone on the boston site *cough*) but doesn’t really fit the role that being lead writer for the Philly smut site requires. I actually like Smitty, but being funny once a day is way easier than hitting 6/10 blogs every single day. If he can’t step up find someone else. Since Smitty, Mo, hockey person would handle sports, cheesesteaks, other stuff specific to the city the person doesn’t have to be in Philly just find the funniest fucking writer you can. 3/4 blogs have nothing to do with the city’s site they are on.

They are usually about 25% sarcastic because they are afraid to commit to anything and have no angle besides “we hate everything and everyone”.
