ProFootballTalkA video of Patriots owner Robert Kraft acting in what appears to be an audition video has gone mega-viral. The video, as it turns out, comes from an audition for an upcoming A-level film. Kraft was reading lines intended for Owen Wilson, which include a four-letter profanity and a fake punch to another actor. Kraft, 71, appears in the video with Ricki Noel Lander, an aspiring actress with whom Kraft has been seen publicly, and whom he has characterized as his “pal.” “I tried to help Ricki prepare an audition tape for an upcoming Vince Vaughn/Owen Wilson comedy by reading Wilson’s lines,” Kraft said in a statement from the team. “I never intended that it would be made public and I regret that it has. I think we can all agree that Owen Wilson has nothing to worry about. I am going to stick to my day job.” It’s unknown when the video was created. It’s also unknown how the video became public Furthermore, it’s unknown how the video will be received, either by 345 Park Avenue or by the team Kraft owns. We’ve got a feeling that the men in the locker room, who already love Kraft, will ultimately get a laugh out of it.

To clarify a few things: Dave sent me the video last night while I was hanging out making S’mores with my Irish Rose and kids and avoiding the All Star Game and said wanted it posted right away because he correctly knew this thing was going to be huge. So I dropped everything immediately and went right to it.  Because when you’ve got a blogger in the family, you understand he’s got to be ready to answer the bell whenever duty calls. But all Dave and I had for information was a caption under the video with the word “INTERNS.”  So we went back and forth, connected a few dots and made an educated guess that it was for “The Internship,” a movie due out next year that sounds like “Wedding Crashers” putting the band back together.  This morning I told Toucher & Rich I thought it was Mr. Kraft doing Owen Wilson’s lines based on nothing more than that’s the way Owen Wilson movie banter always sounds.  And as usual, The Stool was right on all counts.

Second, what’s with Pro Football Talk pretending they’ve never heard of us and don’t know how the video surfaced.  Granted, Barstool Jr tried to pretend it was theirs, but no one besides NBC, who owns PFT, was fooled apparently.  When Dave buys them in a few years, I’m going ask for heads to roll.

But the point of this blog is, of course, Mr. Kraft.  Leave it to him to handle a potentially embarrassing moment like the champ he was born to be.  None of this Rex Ryan post-Foot Fetish video nonsense of running and hiding.  Refusing to answer questions.  Hiding behind some lameass call for respecting his privacy.  Mr. Kraft just faces it head on with a Reaganesque one-liner about keeping his day job.  Perfect.  And the best way to send the message that he’s got nothing to be ashamed of.  And how can the commissioner’s office possibly have a problem with any of it?  Because we can all relate to the fact that sometimes grief leaves a hole in your heart that only being pals with a sexy 32 year old blonde actress can fill.  Well done, sir.  Well done, indeed.  “Nut up or move on.” @JerryThornton1
