Nomar was the best Red Sox short stop hands down and anyone that thinks otherwise is kidding themselves. If he was surrounded by better talent in his early years I think he definitely would of helped us win a title. We never had the pitching to sustain a season and go deep into the playoffs until Theo took over. I personally liked seeing him get a standing O and it should what class and appreciation real Red Sox fans have not only for past players, but for the game itself.

By 7 year stretch, do you mean 3, maybe 4 year stretch?

It's comments like that which make you seem .. well, like a moron. You're just as bad as those at WEEI and the Globe with getting your facts wrong, except they're at the opposite end of the spectrum as you. They bash players, you suck them off, but both of you guys get your facts wrong.

There have been many guys who put up better periods than Nomar has with the Sox... even more recently. Unless you forget Ramirez who hit more HR's in his time with the Sox than Nomar has in his ENTIRE CAREER... let's not forget the OPS average of roughly 1.000.

Have to go with Van Nostrand on the "Best 7 years" comment, although perhaps you mean the best 7 individual years of a player here (possibly Ted Williams?). Nomar was an unbelievable talent for a very short period of time until injuries cut short what looked like a Hall of Fame career--like Tony C. from his era, like Fred Lynn
from his era. These guys came out of the gate with the promise of perennial all-star games, batting, and home run titles, etc. ahead of them--but the promise was never realized in full because of injuries. That's why, in order to be a Hall of Famer, you have to last and in some respects you need to have luck on your side. Unfortunately, these guys didn't.

What about Orlando Cabrera!!! The SS that actually helped us win the WS by playing good baseball
I agree, Nomar got what he deserved last night, but enough is enough.

Dave, did you lose your virginity during a Nomar at bat or something?
(if you did, that's cool, I understand your undieing love for him)

what is with all the anger because Nomar got a standing O?? He's the best shortstop your team has seen in decades. It's refreshing to see fans do that for a change besides booing a former player, especially one that was liked as much as he was.
