Boston.com – David Ortiz disapproved of teammate Ryan Dempster hitting Alex Rodriguez last Sunday night at Fenway Park. “I didn’t like it. I don’t think it was the right thing to do,” Ortiz told USA Today. “But we don’t all think alike, and the guy who did it, Dempster, is a great guy. It’s not that I didn’t think it was right because Alex and I are friends, because once you cross the white lines, everyone’s on their own.”But we’ve got Tampa right on our heels, and that pitch woke up a monster in the Yankees’ team at that moment. You saw how the game ended up. CC [Sabathia] was throwing 91 [m.p.h.] and started throwing 96. Alex later hit one way out there. “You’re talking about a good team that you can’t wake up. But we learn from our mistakes.”
Every once in awhile David Ortiz says or does something that is truly mystifying. Like the time he stormed into Tito’s press conference bitching and moaning about an RBI. Or the way he handled getting busted for steroids by just not saying anything for 2 weeks and then saying he doesn’t know what’s in the pills he takes and shit. And now this. Defending Arod. Really bro? I don’t even care if that’s what you believe. Why would you ever say it to a reporter? So stupid. Forget about waking up the Yankees. How about causing a rift in the clubhouse? Just makes no sense at all. None. Way to defend the one guy in the world that everybody hates. Bizarre. Couldn’t have been worse timing to with our Big Papi shirts just coming out 2 days ago too. Whatever still buy them because they’re awesome….
