I don’t want to oversimplify things here, but I think what Papi is saying is it’s a lot more fun playing here when the Sox are winning and not as much fun when they blow the biggest lead in the history of MLB, they run the most beloved manager in the history of the franchise out of town, the pitching staff drinks, eats fried chicken and plays video games and Josh Beckett skips starts to golf. That makes it kind of less fun and puts more pressure on them to win and creates more negative karma. At least that’s what I think he’s saying. Listen I love Papi. Always will. He has arguably done more in a Red Sox uniform than any player in the history of the franchise. But he also needs to stop whining already. I feel like he does this once a week now. You reap what you sow. This team has acted like a bunch of bitches for the last year or so. All the negative press and attention has been self inflicted. They have nobody to blame but themselves for it. Be a man and take responsibility for your actions. Boston is great place to play when you care and do the right thing. It will eat you alive when you don’t. This edition of the Red Sox needs to re-earn the trust. It’s that simple. As much as I hate Shank and the main stream media this time they really have nothing to do with the problems.

Also, what team are you a fan of where two straight years of missing the playoffs is acceptable from a team? Here in Boston that is unacceptable to anyone who is an avid Boston sports fan. Despite all this, the team is 2 games above .500 and only 3 games out of a playoff spot thanks to unexpected performances from guys like Cody Ross, Daniel Nava, Scott Atchison, Felix Doubront, Aviles, Middlebrooks, Podsednik, and Salty. Right now this is a team full of superstars being carried by the schmucks until the superstars get healthy and get their shit together.
I’m not saying we’re gonna make the playoffs, but at least appreciate what guys like Salty and Nava have done this year. Papi’s been the one star who’s actually done his part (and way, way more at that). This is the underdog team with the $180 million payroll.
