Patriots Get Thunderous Standing O at Celtics Game
Boston.com - Rob Gronkowski kept his shirt on at tonight’s Celtics-Lakers game, appearing on the Jumbotron during the first half along with Patriots teammates Vince Wilfork, Julian Edelman, and Tiquan Underwood. Team owner Robert Kraft was also in attendance. The Patriots got a deserved standing ovation from the TD Garden crowd, a crowd that was appreciative of the team’s Super Bowl run despite the loss.
And there you have it: Everything you need to know about the heart and mind of the Masshole sports fan in three sentences. While the whole world thinks we’re comparing Wes Welker to Bill Buckner and Gisele to Yoko Ono or that we’re bitching about Gronk’s dancing and how inadequate they were, we’re giving them standing O’s the first chance we get. Because we know the difference between a team that’s earned our scorn and ridicule (the 2011 Red Sox) and one that deserves our gratitude for a maximum effort (these Patriots). This is why I’d hate to be from any other city.
And let this be a warning to those corporate criminals at Pawngo who pulled that Butterfingers stunt. You might as well have dumped toxic sludge into the Quabbin. If you ever try to open a branch office in Boston, your ass is grass. We’ll fight it like you’re the Ground Zero mosque or WalMart on the Cape. These colors don’t run. @JerryThornton1

A+
Im pretty sure Boston isnt the first city to applaud a team that just came up short.
^^yes we are.. did gronk rape the celtics dancers?
Well-said. If anything, that stupid PawnGo stunt was the “snap out of it” slap to the face to anyone still whining about last Sunday. It was a good game, the Pats had their chances, but didn’t make the plays they needed to. As Belichick would say, “That’s competition.” Tool up, get ready, and make a run next year.
id rather be from the city that won it.
And just like Sunday, when these Pats were in attendance, the Boston team lost.
My mom used to take me to mcdonalds after I lost too im guessing its about the same thing.
we’re number 2! we’re number 2!
Josh Scobee.
The Pats gave everything they had this year, and deserve everyone’s respect. It was a great run and tribute to MHK. Hats off.
Sure, Brady had problems in the 4th quarter, but it turns out he was probably playing with a separated shoulder after the Tuck sack. Thru 3 quarters, he had the highest QB rating in Super Bowl history.
Besides, do you really think they only score 17 points with a healthy Gronk? As much as i love his “refuse to go down” style, that type of leg sweep injury was bound to happen eventually. Hopefully the coaches can teach him to protect himself once it’s clear a defender has latched on.
And go F yourself Pawngo. Wes Welker is still the man. There needs to be some type of payback for that BS publicity stunt.
PawnGo needs a giant pile of my shit on their collective chests, as does anyone from new England that ever engages their services.
Whatever makes you dickheads feel better about losing the Super Bowl
Only reason they clapped is Underwoods classiness made up for Gronk’s lack of caring about football, and then some. They were applauding one of the classiest guys, and best haircuts, in the NFL. Not gronk.
On fire today. “Gold Jerry, it’s gold!”
Pawngo needs to be put out of business.
You mean the same masshole sports fans that serenaded with MVP chants at the Garden before everyone jumped on the Celtics bandwagon in 2008?
Welker was Buckner. Sorry but its true.
brotherrib – are you one of those retards who thinks Kobe was getting MVP chants from Boston fans? holy shit dude, i was at that game and it was LA fans chanting after the game was basically over (LA up 10 with a minute to go) and Kobe was still in the game padding his stats chucking 3′s. there were lots of LA fans who stayed till the very end and were chanting (the REAL bandwagon fans). you are one stupid asshole
^ Yup. Wouldn’t want to be from anywhere else either. Call us Massholes, call us whatever you want. Sports runs deep here, that’s what NY and all the other cities don’t get. In NY/LA, they’re off at the poshest, trendiest nightclubs trying to keep up with the Joneses, we’ll always be here, supporting our teams and not pretending to be anything else. Suck one.

Welker was Buckner. Sorry but its true.
You’re a fucking idiot. Buckner didn’t deserve the blame for that play in ’86, and Welker certainly doesn’t deserve the blame for this loss. Anyone who really knows anything about Boston sports knows this.
The pass sucked, and I’m suprised Brady let Welker fall on the sword the way he did. Even if the pass is completed, there’s still a good chance the Pats only kick a FG and the Giants come back with a TD to win.

Bumpkin is a moron. Enjoy your dumb sports, while us in LA/NY bang models and make money…and win super bowls and finals.
You know what was fun? Giving the giants o line a standing ovation at the ranger game last night.
Yo-yo, you’re on a Boston Barstoolsports.com talking about our “dumb sports.” With that intelligence, you prob aren’t making money, and a solid guess you’re not banging models either. But hey, the internet lets us all be tough guys, right?
Be careful Blumpkin, Yo-yo’s from LA AND NY
^well if being from Boston means you’re dumb as fuck and cant understand yo-yo’s sarcasm than i’ll stay in NY
