(Arrested Colby Sawyer Students Hanging out at makeshift jail/courthouse because police station was overflowing)

NEW LONDON, N.H.Police in New London arrested 105 students Friday at a party where officers said there was obvious consumption of alcohol by underage students. The three hosts of the party — Lindsey Randlett, 21, Margaux O’Connell, 21, and Kayla Flynn, 20 — are also Colby-Sawyer students and were charged with hosting an underage party. “That’s probably one of the largest arrests that I can remember in 23 years here,” New London Police Chief David Seastrand said. The remaining 50 students were held until they could be released to their parents. Police officers heard yelling and cheering from a house at 81 Seamans Road shortly before 11:30 p.m. Friday. State troopers and more officers from New London, Sunapee and Colby-Sawyer campus safety assisted in the investigation. Colby-Sawyer College President Thomas C. Galligan Jr. said it was not immediately known what action, if any, the college would take. Galligan said in an e-mail to News 9, “We are aware of the incident last night but have not had a chance to review everything that happened and have not made any decision yet about what processes the college might undertake.

This is why I can never understand how people can go to small colleges like Colby Sawyer. I mean isn’t four years of getting treated like a baby in high school enough? Do you really want to spend another 4 years dealing with small town cops who justify their existence by busting kids for underage drinking? Like I’ve got to believe that every small college town in America has cops like Chief Seastrand. Guys who would piss themselves if they worked in a real city with real crime but instead get hard from breaking up college parties. So why go there and deal with this shit? It’s not worth it. There are plenty of schools where the administration and police have better things to do than worry about a couple 21 year olds throwing a house party with loud cheering on a Friday Night. Obviously Colby Sawyer ain’t one of them.
