Pussification of America At Its Finest: Obama Says That If He Had A Son He’d Think Long And Hard About Letting Him Play Football
DM – Football’s first fan isn’t sure he’d let his son play the game, in light of the impact it takes on its players. ‘I’m a big football fan, but I have to tell you, if I had a son, I’d have to think long and hard before I let him play football,’ President Obama said.
‘And I think that those of us who love the sport are going to have to wrestle with the fact that it will probably change gradually to try to reduce some of the violence,’ Obama said. ‘In some cases, that may make it a little bit less exciting, but it will be a whole lot better for the players, and those of us who are fans maybe won’t have to examine our consciences quite as much.’
Shut up Obama. Just a dumb ass statement. Here is the thing that is driving me mad about all this concussion talk in the NFL. You have to be IN the NFL for this to really be an issue. Like I never hear about high school kids who play a 10 game season having long term concussion effects from football. You never even hear about college players. It’s always NFL veterans. Guys who play in the league for a long time. Junior Seau. Al Toon. Those types of guys. It’s a miniscule percentage of people who ever put on pads suffer who legit have to worry about post concussion syndrome. And the guys who do get paid millions upon millions of dollars to play football. It’s their choice. No different than race car drivers who risk their lives or boxers or any contact sport. No different really than cops or firefighters. There is risk involved. Yes you can get a concussion playing football. You can suffer serious injury. You don’t like it? Go get a desk job.
PS – The most infuriating part of all this concussion shit is that it really has nothing to do with player safety and everybody knows it. It’s all about the NFL protecting itself from lawsuits. That’s it. If they weren’t afraid of getting sued by ex players like Seau’s family they could just come out and say football can cause concussion blah, blah, blah. You don’t like it don’t play. But then you’ll have players coming out of the woodwork claiming the NFL put them at risk. At least that’s my understanding of this issue. It’s all PR bullshit.

No. The science linking concussions to CTE and other types of brain damage is new and still developing. It only has been a strong point of focus for the last five years or so. At the time when most of these plaintiffs were receiving concussions, no one knew of the long-term effects of concussions, including the NFL.

The fact that the number of people that are on food stamps has increased by 58.5% in Obama’s first term, and the length of time that people are on food stamps has nearly tripled, but fuck it definitely let him have free access to raise the debt ceiling as he sees fit without congressional approval. It’s a foil for fiscal conservatives to rally behind, and it has literally nothing whatsoever to do with “new” government spending. It’s great for right-wing politicians because when people hear the term, they (incorrectly) associate it with new spending, and that’s why people who are concerned (with reason) about government spending lose their shit and rally against it.
It’s solely about paying off EXISTING debts. It has nothing to do with allowing the government to spend more than they’ve already committed to spend. The Tea Partiers somehow turned this nonissue into a HUGE issue by preying on everyone’s concern about increased government spending. Good to see you bought into their obfuscation, hook, line, and sinker. The only people that are hurt by debt ceiling arguments are our military, national parks, critical government services, and people dependent upon them, etc…it is fucking abhorrent that these politicians act like they’re helping the country by fighting for no more “increases” to the federal debt when it has nothing to do with that at all, and all they’re doing is hurting millions.

Unemployment rate goes down jobs are added. Obamas policies are working and the country has turned the corner. Few months down the line unemployment spikes and jobs are lost: It was an inherited problem that they are trying to turn around and it will take time.
