I’ve partied with Kemp in Seattle at a dive bar called Leny’s. Not the greatest family man but a genuine good guy. Most guys in his shoes would tell these kids to piss off…instead he makes friends and parties with them. He’ll tell you the things that you want to know about the NBA:

1. Everyone hates Isaiah Thomas
2. Laimbeer not as bad a guy as everyone thinks (I still hate him anyway). According to Shawn, that Pistons team was all Isaiah’s…Laimbeer did what he was told or he’d be shipped out (ie) “break his nose” came from the team captain and chimpanzee lookalike.
3. Larry Bird was a man among boys. He told Kemp (who also grew up near French Lick) that he’d drop 50 on him his rookie season. He was exactly at 50 at the end of a game vs Seattle and had a clear layup that he dished to McHale and winked on his way backpeddling to play D.
