Reader Email

Dear Barstoolsports.com and Dave Portnoy;

I write on behalf of my client Jumptheturnstyle.com about a matter requiring your immediate attention. This email may be considered a Written Notice and Demand to Cease and Desist, and for a Retraction concerning your statement, quoted below, which was posted on your web site on March 11, 2010. This statement , which say that my client ‘made it all up’ is highly damaging to its reputation and business opportunities.

“UPDATE – Jumptheturnstyle just printed a retraction saying they made the whole thing up. Too perfect. In the words of the immortal El Pres. Viva La Stool! We’re the biggest baddest cats on the block and just like with everything in life when we say something is fucking hot you better better fucking believe it’s hot. Barstoolapalooza is going to rip peoples dicks off in a good way.”

I request that you immediately remove that ‘update’ from the public domain to mitigate the damage that has occurred, and continues to occur, as a result of your false statement. I further request that you post an immediate retraction and clarification that my client does not admit that they ‘made it all up’, and that you take all necessary steps to ensure that there is no further dissemination of your story. In absolutely no way did my client ever admit to making it all up. In fact, despite what you may believe, my client has sources that still stand by their initial comments. But since none of them will go on the record or provide proof to contradict the proof provided by Sam Adam’s lawyers, my clients did the responsible thing and retracted the story and apologized. However, they still stand by their initial story and do not in anyway admit to making up any of the info provided to them from their sources that is contained in that story.

This entire exchange has been blown way out of proportion and my client wishes to just end it all as soon as possible.

I look forward to your response.

Sincerely,

Adam D. DeFalco, Esq.

Of all the emails I’ve ever received in the history of doing Barstool Sports this has to be the most fantastic, outrageous, preposterous thing I’ve ever gotten. Just so I can understand this correctly. Jump The Turnstyle printed a totally fabricated story about Sam Adams rigging Itunes and buying his own album. They claim they have not one, not two, but at least 3 credible unnamed “industry insider sources” who have all confirmed their story. In other words it’s fact.   This isn’t speculation.  This is 100% true.   Just to remind you here is what they said;

“Scam Adams, rather Sam Adams’ recent rise to overnight super stardom and #1 iTunes hip hop debut is a complete farce. That’s right.. dude is a fraud of epic trustfundian proportions.In a stunning turn of events, multiple music industry insiders, including the head of a major independent record label, an employee at iTunes, and an industry source at a major digital distributor (who have all asked to remain anonymous) have confirmed the following allegations to be true; close to 75,000 downloads of Sam Adams iTunes debut were charged to a single credit card. Adams is fake. His people manufactured his entire career.. and he got caught out”

They have since admitted that the entire thing was untrue.   And now they want to sue me for saying they made it up? Even after they admit the story was fake themselves? Even after they pulled the blog down? Even after they wrote a retraction? That somehow me saying they made the story up hurts their reputation? That it’s not their fault they published a gigantic pile of lies? That the multiple unnamed industry insiders are the ones to blame and they really did nothing wrong? And now they are going to sue me for saying they faked the story?   BAHAHAHAH! To quote Don King….Only in America!

PS – I sincerely hope for the sake of humanity that this is just a publicity stunt to get more traffic from us.
