RemDawg recovering from Cancer surgery
In case you missed it which you probably did with two playoff games going on tonight, NESN just released a statement that Jerry Remy is recovering from cancer surgery. Remy’s chain-smoking was as legendary as Wade Boggs’ drinking (buy a shirt) so developing cancer, while sad, was not really a huge surprise. NESN says that while he will be off the air for the unforeseeable future, his seat is ready when he’s well enought to return. Hopefully it’s before they resort to Jim Ed Rice…RemDawg from all the Stoolies get well soon…
That really sucks. Jerry is hands down the best color guy in all of baseball. It’s damn near impossible for me not to laugh at some point during a Sox telecast because of something he has said.

Rem Dawg is a good mix of Sox homer and unbiased announcer.

Since you are so educated. Who is better? And what makes you all knowing that your answer is correct? Because it is a matter of opinion. Not like there is a score sheet to make an argument with. And how much of a deuchebag do you have to be to argue against something when its a blog post about someone recovering from cancer surgery?
While I haven’t seen EVERY colorman in baseball, I can’t comment as to whether or not he is objectively the best.
I can say this: Jerry Remy is by far my favorite colorman in baseball and I hope to hell he recovers.
In honor of Mr. Remy, I will be retiring this name.
While he has grown on me somewhat in the past five or so years, I never understood how hogwild people were about Remy. Yes, he often made very good insights about the game, but they were often overshadowed by his schilling Remdawg things from the sixth inning on.

People always told me that he is an insufferable prick….but I met him by the NESN desk at Yawkey and got my hat signed/talked some baseball. I feel like he gets a bad rap.
As far as the color competition, all of the national choads from Fox and ESPN are blithering choach-thieves with NY state of minds all the time. Remy appears to be drunk in a third of the games and he still calls a perfect game night after night. He’s a diamond in the rough in this business, may he bounce back soon.
Also: fuckin’ Bruins are killing me softly.
