Sold Out Hampton Beach Show Postponed By Venue Because of “Sprinkler Permitting Issue”
Literally just got this email from Wallys for our show Thursday Night….
Despite months of preparation I regretfully have to cancel Barstool Sports this Thursday due to the fire marshall’s issue with our sprinkler system. Wally’s has a festival setting option for our occupancy license. Last thursday the fire marshall liquor commission and chief of police met and receded our license under life safety issues which trumps our approved engineered layout. The owner was excited to work with Barstool and has been fighting for 2 days on this matter. Its an issue that will easily be tackled but not by thursday. We hope this doesn’t damage our relationship because we were all excited for this event and would love to work with Barstool on any level in the future. We will go to the extreme of getting approved letters from each part of the town. This was an unforeseeable event that we won’t let happen again. Sorry for the inconvenience…

To be honest I’m not shocked. It took a shit ton of convincing for me to book this show in the first place. I just felt like something like this would happen. I guess I should have trusted my instinct. Sucks for everybody who bought tickets. We’ll be refunding them ASAP and will look at re-booking after doing a conference call with all parties involved making sure their are no permitting issues etc….Sorry. And yes I think one giant crocodile tear escaped from my eyeball when I got this.
Do you know what the phrase “crocodile tears” means, or did you just decide it sounded good?

We’ve received pressure from local officials who feel you are a pack of scumbags. they have threatened to make our life miserable if we don’t bail on this show. We don’t want you to trash us though, so here’s a fake reason for pulling your show three days in advance. If it makes you feel better some people will not seek a refund, and you will get to keep their money.

Don’t think for a minute that this was really cancelled due to any sprinkler issues.
Back in the day my friend who owned a successful summer teen club tried opening up there and they pulled the same thing (at a different venue). If they wanted the show there, by bet is you wouldn’t have had an issue. I would pay close attention to this venue over the next couple weeks and see if they stay open or if they really make any improvements to their system. It’s a jamscam!

This was unfortunate event…The city literally told me this today. We apologize to anyone who purchased tickets. We were very excited about this event.
