I’ve never been one to bitch about the scheduling. The NFL is out to screw the Patriots and throw spike strips down in front of their dynasty in enough other ways without worrying about who they’re playing or when. I’m all about playing them as they come, focusing on the next game, it is what it is and all that. A lot is being made of them having the 3rd toughest strength-of-schedule, but that doesn’t mean much. By that logic last year Miami was considered a cupcake and Cleveland was a tough game and how did that turn out? I could complain about the Pats having to travel to Denver and Indy like they’ve done each of the past 20 years, or how that game at Indy will be the Colts third straight home game, but why bother? I didn’t need the 2009 schedule to convince me the league offices are in the satchel for the Colts. I could mention that the bye week is all but mitigated by the fact that the Pats will be coming off an overseas trip across about six time zones when they go face the London Sillynannies. Or how they don’t face a single team playing on a short week. Or how down the stretch they’re on the road for 4 of their last 6. But those are loser’s laments. All I see in this schedule is a slate of 16 teams facing Tom Brady tanned, rested and ready to unleash hell. This looks like 16-0 to me.
